Job Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

The Principal research scientist is responsible for coordinating and carrying out the full spectrum of activities related to the development and validation of bioanalytical methods according to client requests and within the required timeframes. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Independently develop, validate and optimize bioanalytical methods or instruct other staff to do so.
  • Drive innovation in the company's bioanalytical techniques.
  • Process, analyze and interpret bioanalytical data and train and instruct staff on appropriate analysis techniques.
  • Find solutions to problems related to the application of bioanalytical methods.
  • Supervise and/or drive improvements in laboratory activity processes (method development and validation).
  • Write and review bioanalytical method SOPs.
  • Review scientific literature in order to guide the development of bioanalytical methods.
  • Document and/or review documentation of activities related to the development and validation of bioanalytical methods.
  • Can be called upon to assist with the training of new employees related to research and development and validation.
  • Assist in competitive intelligence by developing and testing new analytical instruments.
  • Coordinate resources to drive development of bioanalytical methods.
  • Can be called upon to perform all biological sample processing and analysis activities.
  • Can be called upon to supervise the work of laboratory staff.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor scientific staff.
  • Oversee development of direct reports by setting goals, conducting performance reviews, evaluating and monitoring training needs, creating development plans, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Set priorities and schedule activities of departmental resources, implement company objectives, and create alternative solutions to address business and operational challenges.
  • Responsible for performing activities that are in compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and Operating Guidelines and performing other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (please indicate if 'preferred')

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science.
  • Relative alternate certification may be considered acceptable.
  • Experience in regulatory context will be considered an asset.
  • Must demonstrate good computer skills especially in the utilization of Microsoft Word and Excel and analytical software (E.g. Analyst).
  • Demonstrates skills in scientific problem solving.
  • English level: Required bilingualism includes communicating verbally and in writing on topics that are often technical, and writing procedures or technical reports.

Salary Range:

$79,800.00 - $139,600.00

The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
