The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will provide and assist the manufacturing floor with support, problem solving and operator training, collaborate with the program team to improve quality, yield, efficiency, and meet customer schedules, support and execute root cause corrective actions, and research, develop, and execute continuous improvement initiatives in coordination with site leadership.
  • Provides support to technical employees working in an organizational function related to the Intern's area of study.
  • Assists with technical tasks and project support.
  • Supports equipment set up and monitors tests and experiments.
  • Observes results, collects data, and compiles summaries and reports.
  • Learns technical processes and procedures.
  • Job shadows other more experienced professionals and or support staff.
  • May also support the documentation & updates of procedures or work instructions.
  • Handles basic issues and problems

      • Required education and experience: Must be currently enrolled in related Technical courses or be within 6 months of graduation; No prior experience needed

      • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Ability to work as part of a team. Oral and written communication skills. Attentiveness. Ability to understand and follow directions.

      • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
      • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
      • May need to stand for long periods of time.
      • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
      • This position is Safety-Sensitive.
