Job Description

Riverpoint Medical in Northeast Portland is hiring a Research and Development Technician. At Riverpoint you will be part of the process that brings great technology to Medical, Dental and Veterinary markets. We specialize in the design and manufacturing of premium medical devices. Our ingenuity can be found in our suture technologies, sports medicine fibers and anchors, surgical lighting, and special needle technologies. The Research and Development Technician at Riverpoint will be working in a clean room environment and be part of a team that handles suture technology, fibers and anchors for sports medicine procedures and specialty needle assembly and be responsible for putting together products either manually or using manufacturing equipment.

Some of your duties include:

  • Support engineers and fellow technicians throughout the entire product development process โ€“ From early concepts and prototyping to testing and final validation.
  • Build products at various stages of development โ€“ including concept builds, design iterations, and final test units โ€“ using methods like braiding, hand assembly, needle attaching, and basic production asks such as sealing, drying, or packaging.
  • Follow instructions to perform specific assembly tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Use testing equipment (such as Instrons, calipers, and vision systems) and follow established methods to test products at various stages of development.
  • Take on additional tasks as needed after receiving the proper training.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory teams.
  • Working in and out of a cleanroom environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma; Associate degree in engineering technology or similar preferred
  • Prior experience in a regulated environment (medical device, pharmaceutical, or similar) in development, testing, or manufacturing
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity for working with small components
  • Comfortable handling multiple tasks, including long-duration testing with patience and precision
  • Effective communicator with clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in interpreting technical documents and engineering terminology
  • Curious, motivated, and eager to learn new skills and contribute to a collaborative team
  • Familiar with laboratory and safety protocols
