Within the Applied Markets Group (AMG), the Gas Phase Division (GPD) develops and commercializes a global portfolio of Gas Chromatography (GC) and GC/MS solutions serving Chemical & Energy, Pharma/Biopharma, Food, Environmental & Forensics, Academic & Research, and Diagnostics markets. GPD is positioned to deliver strong customer value by advancing both analytical performance and laboratory economics.

The Associate Vice President (AVP) of GPD Research & Development leads global R&D teams in the development of innovative, highquality, and differentiated GC and GC/MS solutions. This role requires a strategic, resultsdriven leader with a strong track record in new product development, organizational leadership, and crossfunctional collaboration. The AVP will play a critical role in driving sustained technology leadership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute divisional R&D strategies in partnership with GPD leadership to differentiate customer experience and value.

  • Own the R&D product roadmap to extend market leadership in GC and GC/MS instrumentation.

  • Ensure strong crossfunctional alignment across marketing, R&D, supply chain, quality, operations, and field organizations to deliver timely, innovative solutions.

  • Incorporate Voice of Customer (VOC) and competitive insights into product innovation.

  • Drive rigorous execution of the product development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with Agilent quality, documentation, and DFx requirements from concept through commercialization.

  • Lead R&D resource planning to align talent and capabilities with business priorities, adapting rapidly to changing market needs.

  • Build futureready R&D capabilities by attracting top talent, developing technical and leadership skills, and fostering strong organizational performance.

  • Champion crossdivision collaboration in smart instrumentation and endtoend workflow automation initiatives, leveraging a One Agilent mindset.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, chemistry, or related scientific discipline; PhD preferred.

  • 10+ years of relevant R&D experience, including 7+ years of increasing leadership roles within analytical instrumentation or related fields.

  • Proven success leading globally distributed teams and launching products for worldwide markets.

  • Strong expertise in R&D operations, organizational development, and crossfunctional leadership.

  • Demonstrated strategic, financial, and decisionmaking acumen, including P&L awareness.

  • High emotional intelligence, strong communication skills, and clear alignment with Agilent values.

This job has a full time weekly schedule.
