Job description

Responsibilities and Duties

Corporate

  • Follow SOPs and other applicable laboratory or company procedures

  • Maintain confidential information consistent with Inotiv corporate policy

  • Demonstrate Inotiv Core Values

General

  • Interact with clients, other employees, and the community in a professional manner

  • Support and participate in company initiatives

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Specific

  • Document all study and laboratory activities as required for compliance

  • Perform preventative maintenance, monitoring, and calibration of laboratory equipment as assigned, troubleshooting issues as needed

  • Operate and maintain slide stainer and cover-slipper, tissue processor, cassette and slide printers

  • Pre-label tissue cassettes and slides

  • Assist in preparing forms / equipment logs

  • Receive incoming histology materials and purchased products as needed

  • Unpack and examine histology samples/materials received, verify against packing slips, complete inventories/logs as necessary and place in established locations

  • Label Histology supplies and maintain inventories

  • Package study materials and label boxes as required

  • Maintain stock reagents, chemicals and materials as needed

  • Assist in managing hazardous waste and central accumulation areas

  • Perform general housekeeping related tasks, per daily logs

  • Follow all company safety requirements

  • Organizing wet tissue and disposal when required

  • Restocking consumables and overall good general housekeeping

Position Requirements

Education and experience

  • High School Diploma or GED, lab experience preferred

  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Skills and abilities

  • Attention to detail with strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to multitask, be detailed orientated and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

  • General Microsoft office skills and the ability to learn new laboratory software

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with team members, pathologists and other Inotiv staff members

  • Maintain quality standards while adhering to deadlines

  • Ability and desire to learn new methods or workflows

Performance requirements

General

  • Demonstrate an understanding of SOPs, job description and general facility operations

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of relevant computer systems, specifically MS Excel, Word and Outlook

  • Document all process training, provide a CV and ensure that his/her training file is kept current

Physical Activity

  • Moderate physical activity. This position will require frequent walking, sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, carrying, heavy lifting (max. 50 lbs), reaching while standing, gripping and twisting hand movements, finger control and other general repetitive motions (for more than four [4] hours per day)

  • Able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses as required.

  • Ability to read and understand applicable materials

  • Manual dexterity to operate laboratory equipment and calculator/computer

Working Conditions

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior office work or laboratory environment

  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include use of protective equipment

  • The noise level is usually moderate

  • This position will frequently be involved with sharps, solvents, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, flammable materials and bio-hazards.

The salary range is $22-$27.50/hr and will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level. Benefits include health dental, and vision coverage, short- and long-term disability, paid time off, paid parental leave, 401K, and more!
