Job description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is hiring for an early to mid-level MD or MD, PhD clinician with expertise in hospital-based neurology. This position will be located at UM Capital Region Health in Largo, MD.
Salary range $300,000.00 -330,000.00 annual
Department Essential functions
Clinical responsibilities include care of inpatients on the general neurology and stroke services.
Care of patients in the step-down neurology Intermediate Care Unit, and neurological consultations in the emergency department.
Neuro-hospitalist will work closely with the stroke, neurosurgery, neurointerventional, neurocritical care, and epilepsy teams.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Doctoral degree in Medicine in area of specialty
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience
  • CPR required
  • BLS required
  • ACLS and/or other relevant certification as required by the department
  • Board certification/eligibility in area of specialty
  • Demonstrated ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, and/or publishing
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific need
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, patient's families, departmental units, and medical and nursing staff on all essential matters

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland's Faculty Physician's Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
