Location:                    New York 

Department:              People and Culture 

Reports to:                 Associate, People and Culture 

Job Type:                   Temporary 

FLSA Status:             Non-Exempt (Overtime-Eligible) 

Compensation:          $17.00/hour 

Schedule:                   Estimated 12 hrs/week; Monday – Thursday 

Duration:                   8 weeks 

Summary: 

Asia Society’s People and Culture department is seeking an exceptional intern with a demonstrated interest in human resources management, including recruitment, benefits, talent management, and compliance. The intern will interact directly with Asia Society’s People and Culture Team. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Shadow interviews and meetings regarding recruitment 
  • Research new ideas and best practices for recruitment and onboarding 
  • Research new benefit offerings, regulations, laws and best practices 
  • Contribute to the Asia Society internship program 
  • Participate in weekly calls with our benefits broker and HRIS/payroll vendor 
  • Participate in employee meetings regarding benefits, onboarding and off-boarding 
  • Shadow the People and Culture Team on meetings regarding performance management and staff events 
  • Research new ideas/best practices for performance management and talent management 
  • Research new and updated employment policies 
  • Update HRIS data and other employee data as needed 
  • Assist with HR filing and record maintenance as needed 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Requirements: 

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program and not yet have graduated at the time of the internship
  • Some familiarity with one or more core Human Resources subject matter areas including recruitment, onboarding, benefits, compensation, payroll, talent management, off-boarding, risk management, and compliance.  
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality 
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team 
  • Strong research and communication skills 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Flexibility with handling diverse tasks 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
