Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Associate II in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology & Neuroscience within the New Jersey Medical School ( NJMS ).

Under direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate II will contribute to development and testing of solutions for data integration, including data from single cell and epigenomic assays. Contributing to maintenance of genomic and imaging data analysis pipelines, including data from chromatin conformation, 3D spatial imaging, and super-resolution microscopy. Collaborating with experimental scientists to explore and interpret various genomic and epigenomic data types. Participation in lab and departmental meetings and discussions.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Designs, performs and analyzes experiments in microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, genetics or data science.
  • Participates in the development of performance standards, selection of methodology and instrumentation and coordination of the analytical, biochemical, physiology and instrumentation functions with the clinical and research areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Under supervision, assists in the conducting of continuous program of research and development regarding the analytical and instrumentation functions of the laboratory, participates in the evaluation of the existing procedures, suggesting revision where necessary and proposing new procedures where required.
  • Remains up-to-date in relevant scientific literature.
  • Writes scientific papers for submission to journals.

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline, or a Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline with a minimum of three (3) years of related research experience.
Certifications/Licenses Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred qualifications include proficiency in R, Python, Perl, Java, or C++; a strong foundation in the biological sciences; demonstrated interest or experience in bioinformatics, genomics, data visualization, and machine learning; basic systems administration knowledge; experience working with large-scale genomic sequencing data; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to develop well-documented, efficient, and maintainable code.
