The Jiang Lab develops programmable molecular systems with translational potential for cancer theranostics, with the goal of enabling more precise, responsive, and effective approaches to cancer detection and treatment (K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award, 2025-2030; Nat Biotechnol 2025; Nat Biomed Eng 2022, etc.). At the interface of chemistry, biology, engineering, and medicine, the Jiang Lab seeks to create innovative molecular technologies that address unmet challenges in cancer therapy and diagnosis and ultimately make a meaningful difference for patients.

We are recruiting a Research Technician I/II to support projects in chemical biology and therapeutic development.

The Research Technician will be responsible for performing standard and investigative laboratory work in support of scientific research by performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, recovering, compiling and verifying the accuracy of research data; performing calculations; preparing charts, graphs and summaries.


Research Tech I: 

  • Perform experiments at the bench level to support investigative work.
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, stocks, cultures or cell lines.
  • Perform and modify documented protocols and assays.
  • Maintain laboratory records and compile data on experiments and assays.
  • Interpret and report on experimental results.
  • Perform statistical analysis of test results and prepare written reports on work performed.
  • Operate and carry out basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Order and maintain appropriate levels of supplies.

Research Tech II:

Performs the duties of the Research Technician I position plus:

  • Identify methodological problems in research protocol and implement modifications to optimize experimental results.
  • Prepare and present written or oral progress reports concerning studies including assembly, organization, and interpretation of data.
  • Assist in the design of experiments; may be responsible for the performance of individual research projects.
  • Conduct literature reviews to assist in determining most suitable methods to be used in research.
  • Assist in publication of results by proofreading, editing, and contributing ideas.
  • May perform statistical analyses, write computer programs, or manage research data base.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Research Technician I:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study.
  • Demonstrated basic laboratory skills.

Research Technician II:

All previously listed qualifications, plus:

  • 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hands-on experience with mouse husbandry and colony management, tumor inoculation, mouse injections, tissue processing, and other related in vivo techniques.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, PCR/qPCR, molecular cloning, Western blotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, DNA/RNA extraction, protein expression and purification, and related molecular and cellular biology techniques.

Research Technician I: The hourly pay range for this position is from $23.33 to $33.21 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Research Technician II: The hourly pay range for this position is from $27.01 to $38.45 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
