Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.
Dr. Siamak Salavatian's laboratory in the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to support funded studies of the autonomic nervous system, cardiac electrophysiology, and neuromodulation in cardiovascular disease.
The Research Assistant will support preclinical experiments involving neural recordings, cardiac electrophysiology, physiological monitoring, and neuromodulation. Responsibilities include experimental preparation, data acquisition and quality monitoring, equipment setup, recordkeeping, data organization, and analysis of neural, electrocardiographic, electrophysiological, and hemodynamic signals.
The individual will work closely with the principal investigator and other laboratory members, including technicians, students, postdoctoral fellows, clinicians, and engineers.
Basic computer and organizational skills are required. Experience with biomedical signal acquisition or analysis, electrophysiology, programming in MATLAB or Python, or large-animal research is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
Excellent communication, analytical skills, attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential. Some scheduling flexibility may be required based on experimental timelines."
