Job description

Company Description
INFICON is a leading provider of innovative instrumentation, critical sensor technologies, and Smart Manufacturing/Industry 4.0 software solutions that enhance productivity and quality of tools, processes, and complete factories. These analysis, measurement and control products are essential for gas leak detection in air conditioning/refrigeration and automotive manufacturing. They are vital to equipment manufacturers and end-users in the complex fabrication of semiconductors and thin film coatings for optics, flat panel displays, solar cells and industrial vacuum coating applications. Other users of our vacuum-based processes include the life sciences, research, aerospace, packaging, heat treatment, laser cutting and many other industrial processes. We also leverage our expertise in vacuum technology to provide unique, toxic chemical analysis products for emergency response, security, and environmental health and safety.
Job Description
We are hiring a Senior Software Product Manager to lead the next chapter of growth for our semiconductor software portfolio, with a primary focus on Fault Detection and Classification (FDC). This is a high-impact role for an AI-first product leader who thrives at the intersection of advanced manufacturing, sensor hardware, and modern B2B software. You will own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for innovative solutions that solve real, costly problems for our customers on the fab floor - and you will partner closely with our hardware and sensor teams to deliver experiences that no software-only competitor can match.
You bring senior-level product judgment, an energetic and positive mindset, and a relentless focus on customer outcomes. You operate fluently in Agile delivery, ground your thinking in Design Thinking and Lean Startup principles, and treat AI not as a feature but as a foundational capability that reshapes how products are built and how customers extract value.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap
  • Own the vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap for one or more software products in the semiconductor FDC space.
  • Drive growth of existing products through innovative, differentiated capabilities - particularly those enabled by AI and machine learning.
  • Define and track product KPIs tied to customer outcomes (yield, uptime, time-to-detection, time-to-root-cause) and business outcomes (ARR, expansion, retention).

Customer Discovery & Problem Framing
  • Spend significant time with process engineers, equipment engineers, integration engineers, and fab IT to deeply understand workflows, pain points, and unmet needs.
  • Apply Design Thinking to frame problems from the customer's perspective before jumping to solutions.
  • Use Lean Startup methods - hypotheses, MVPs, and validated learning - to de-risk bets and accelerate the path from idea to customer value.

AI-First Product Development
  • Champion an AI-first approach: identify where AI/ML meaningfully improves detection, classification, prediction, and decision support over traditional rule-based methods.
  • Partner with data science and engineering to scope ML use cases, define data requirements, and design for explainability, trust, and operator adoption in a manufacturing setting.
  • Make pragmatic build/buy/partner decisions across the AI stack.

Sensor & Hardware Integration
  • Work directly with sensor hardware and instrumentation teams to ensure software products fully leverage upstream signal quality, sampling, and metadata.
  • Influence sensor product roadmaps where software-side requirements (data fidelity, latency, edge processing, protocols) unlock meaningful customer value.
  • Translate hardware capabilities into compelling software value propositions for fab customers.

Agile Delivery & Execution
  • Operate as the product owner within Agile teams - maintaining a prioritized, outcome-oriented backlog and clear acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with engineering, UX, QA, and DevOps to ship high-quality releases on a predictable cadence.
  • Balance discovery and delivery - keep the team running fast on committed work while continuously validating what comes next.

Go-to-Market & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner with Sales, Application Engineering, Marketing, and Support to launch features, enable the field, and drive adoption.
  • Serve as the credible product voice with customers, partners, and internal executives - including roadmap reviews and strategic account engagements.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years at a senior level, in B2B software.
  • Demonstrated track record of growing existing products through innovation - not just managing a backlog, but moving the needle on adoption, expansion, and customer outcomes.
  • AI-first product thinking: experience scoping, shipping, and scaling AI/ML-powered capabilities in a B2B software product.
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile delivery, Design Thinking, and Lean Startup methodologies - and the judgment to know when to apply each.
  • Excellent customer discovery, written communication, and stakeholder management skills across technical and executive audiences.
  • Comfort working closely with hardware/firmware/sensor teams and translating physical-world data into software value.
  • Positive, energetic, growth-oriented mindset; thrives in ambiguity and brings clarity, optimism, and momentum to the team.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience with the semiconductor manufacturing process (front-end fab operations, process control, equipment data) - Fault Detection and Classification (FDC) experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and data ecosystems such as SEMI standards, SECS/GEM, EDA (Interface A), MES integration, and time-series sensor data at scale.
  • Experience launching products that combine on-premise, edge, and cloud deployment models in regulated or high-availability environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field; advanced degree or MBA a plus.

Additional Information
The expected salary range for this position is between $120,000 and $160,000 annually. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. In addition, INFICON employees are eligible for a profit-sharing bonus with a target of 10% as well as 401K match up to 8% (vesting schedule).
