Job description

We are actively growing and looking for a Junior to Intermediate M&A Analyst to join our Corporate Development team. Reporting directly to the Director of Mergers & Acquisitions, you will be a key player in driving our buy-side growth strategy.

In this role, you won't just be crunching numbers in the background. You will get hands-on experience across the entire M&A lifecycle—from identifying strategic targets and running valuations, to facilitating due diligence and actively participating in the post-merger integration of newly acquired firms into the Dillon family.

This is a new position and can be based at any one of our 25+ offices across Canada. We offer flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.

About Dillon

We are committed to ongoing professional development and celebrate the unique perspectives that each team member brings to the table.

Employee ownership is available to all Dillon team members, and over 60% of our employees own shares in Dillon. Through employee ownership, we return the financial benefit created by our project work to the very people who created that value. Because we are an employee-owned firm, your voice will be an essential part of our shared success.

  • Target Identification & Sourcing: Conduct market research to identify potential acquisition targets in the engineering, environmental, and planning sectors across Canada that align with Dillon’s strategic goals.
  • Valuation & Financial Modeling: Build and maintain detailed financial models (DCF, precedent transactions, comparable company analysis) to evaluate potential acquisitions and support deal pricing.

  • Deal Structuring & Execution: Support the drafting of letters of intent (LOIs), term sheets, and internal investment memos for the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Post-Merger Management & Integration: Play a critical hands-on role in helping newly acquired companies transition smoothly. You will track integration KPIs, resolve operational bottlenecks, and help integrate new teams into Dillon’s employee-owned culture.
Learning & Development
  • Commit to self-development, ongoing learning, and professional development.
  • Drive continuous learning and mentor junior staff in data science and digital project delivery methodologies, developing the next generation of tech-forward leaders.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel with strong financial modeling and analytical skills. You know how to tear down a balance sheet and build reliable financial models.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple moving parts during a due diligence process.
  • You possess the emotional intelligence required for post-merger integration. You understand that acquiring a business means acquiring people, and you are highly capable of building trust and guiding new teams through the stress of an acquisition.
  • Bring a proactive approach to leveraging AI and automation to solve complex financial problems and modernize workflows.

  •  2 to 5 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, transaction advisory, private equity, or management consulting..
  • Proven track record working in and contributing to a Continuous Improvement-focused environment
