Primary Purpose of Position
NCCU invites applications for a Research Scientist to help build and expand RCMI supported core resources and programming in developmental and environmental toxicology. The effort will build translational science capacity and is also aligned with recent strategic efforts to build capacity in environmental sciences such as NCCU-RTI CARES, NCCU-NC State partnership in environmental health and Duke-NCCU Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA).
Aligned with NIH priorities, this scientist will apply New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) and model-organism systems including zebrafish and killifish embryos to study the molecular and developmental effects of environmental contaminants such as PFAS and other industrial and environmental toxins. The position will contribute to NCCU's expanding research capacity in translational science with a focus on environmental science. Under broader NCCU RCMI umbrella, the effort is also aligned with programs like NCCU-RTI Center for Applied Research in Environmental Sciences, NC State's Center for Human Health and the Environment (CHHE) and Duke-NCCU CTSA partnership supporting studies in translational science including health outreach, education and workforce development.
