Job description

RMC Assistant, AZA Reproductive Management Center
Location:
Saint Louis Zoo - Forest Park
Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly
Position Type: Part-Time/Temporary
Hourly Rate: $15/hr.
Position Summary: The AZA Reproductive Management Center (RMC) is looking for a RMC Assistant starting in Fall 2026.
The Association of Zoos & Aquarium's (AZA) Reproductive Management Center (RMC) is tasked with providing science-based reproductive management advice to AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums to support the long-term viability of animal populations in human care.
More specifically, the RMC conducts research on predictors of successful reproduction in AZA-managed animal populations, uses modeling to identify optimal breeding strategies that meet population genetic and demographic goals while maintaining fertility, investigates the safety, efficacy and reversibility of contraceptives used in wildlife, and provides contraceptive recommendations to animal managers.
Responsibilities: Provides support to the AZA Reproductive Management Center contraceptive programs. Duties will include receiving, packaging, and shipping contraceptive implants, as well as invoicing zoos and entering data into the contraception database. There may also be opportunities to help with data entry for other RMC research projects depending on the candidate's skills and interest. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred. Must be proficient with a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software (MSWord, Excel, Access). MS Access experience not required, but preferred. Must be able to take direction and also work independently when applicable. Must be detail oriented. Excellent organizational and time-management skills required. Must be able to handle confidential information. All successful candidates for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
Work Schedule: The successful candidate must be able to work weekdays. Position is a minimum of 5 hours/week but limited to up to 10 hours/week and the person must be able to devote at least a 3-hour block of this time on a Monday or a Tuesday.
