Job Summary
The Human Resources Assistant will handle all clerical and administrative responsibilities for the Barnes & Noble Distribution Center, including supporting both the recruiting and employee activities duties as assigned.
Payrate for this position is $21/hr.
What you do:
• Support the HR team with employee activities such as vendor negotiation, flyer distribution to management team and booksellers
• Provide assistance to Human Resources during peak season hiring (scheduling interviews, processing background checks and arranging for new hire orientations).
• Maintain Call Out lists for all shifts.
• Maintains accurate readings for the postage stamp meter.
• Processes all employee book orders and movie ticket sales inclusive of reconciliation of petty cash box.
• Sign for all incoming packages and supplies.
• Works with HR Team to source and pre-screen candidates.
• Candidate will interact on the phone regularly to conduct references for all probable candidates.
• Update in-house cafeteria television monitors of all company related news.
• Sorts all warehouse hourly weekly payroll checks for distribution to Ops Management team
• Assist Human Resources department for projects as assigned
• Act as back up for receptionist duties
Knowledge and Experience
• High school diploma
• Minimum 1-2 years HR work related experience
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
• Bilingual Spanish a plus
• Must have strong administrative and excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Must be willing to learn, have strong initiative, and a drive for success.
• Works efficiently both independently and as a member of a larger team.
• Communicate effectively with all staff and client types through both verbal and written means.
• Thrives in a fast-moving environment and is skilled at multi-tasking.
• Exhibits a high degree of confidentiality and integrity.
