POSITION OVERVIEW
A Medical Interview Specialist’s primary responsibility will be conducting medical interviews with Veterans to complete Personal Assessment Questionnaires, simplifying complex medical terms, analyzing the questionnaire to determine if the client qualifies, and scheduling Veterans for medical interviews. As a Medical Interview Specialist, you will also be responsible for adhering to all HIPAA regulations and guidelines, data entry, file management, and other administrative duties.  
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with developing new software to improve our process.
  • Departmental training and documentation.
  • Audit department calls for quality assurance.
  • Onboard new hires.
  • Create weekly departmental and team progress reports.
  • Develop and monitor departmental KPIs and team accountability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct a medical interview with Veterans on specific service-connected disabilities and transcribe that information onto the appropriate Personal Assessment Questionnaires.
  • Utilize a remote access software system to complete the information.
  • Simplify complex medical terms and ensure the Veteran understands each question.
  • Schedule Veterans for medical interview appointments  
  • Review all supporting medical evidence provided by the Veteran. 
  • Follow HIPPA guidelines when handling client personal information.  
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with affiliate companies assisting the Veterans. 
  • Ensure that calls are performed with empathy, professionalism, and respect.  
  • Properly manage and maintain client files and all associated documentation. 
  • Maintaining employee attendance and departmental schedules
  • Maintaining pipeline management amp; Live Transfers
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, amp; ABILITIES:
  • Previous medical field experience is preferred.
  • Proficient medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology knowledge.  
  • Ability to understand and translate complex medical terminology into layman’s terms. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.   
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and software systems.  
  • Detail-oriented and proofreading skills.
  • Able to work independently at a fast pace and meet deadlines.  
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work. 
  • Minimum typing speed of 60 wpm.
  • Customer service experience. 
  • Excellent phone etiquette.
EDUCATION amp; EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS amp; WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be available to work weekends
