Position Overview

Home and Community Mental Care, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our team in providing exceptional therapeutic services to children and families. This full-time, remote role involves working directly with clients in their homes or through our community health clinic, addressing a range of behavioral issues and developmental challenges. The ideal candidate will possess bilingual skills in Spanish or Portuguese and will have a strong background in working with children with developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges.

About the Organization

Home and Community Mental Care, Inc. is a recognized provider of comprehensive mental health services dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, and their families across Illinois. Our mission is to deliver compassionate and accessible care tailored to the unique needs of each client. We specialize in offering intensive in-community therapy, including support for caregivers of children facing developmental and intellectual disabilities. At our organization, we believe in empowering families through effective, evidence-based interventions.

Work Environment

This position is primarily remote, allowing you to provide therapy from the comfort of your home while still connecting with clients in their environments. Our community health clinic serves as a hub for therapy sessions, offering a collaborative environment with other mental health professionals. You will have the opportunity to engage with a multidisciplinary team to enhance the therapeutic process and family support outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing evidenced-based practices in both in-home visits and outpatient clinic settings.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions aimed at reducing high-risk behaviors such as self-injurious behavior (SIB) and physical violence. This includes teaching coping mechanisms, social skills, and anger management techniques.
  • Facilitate improvements in decision-making capabilities for both young clients and their caregivers to address behavioral challenges at home.
  • Effectively collaborate with the Child Family Treatment Team, ensuring continuity of care and the delivery of integrated services.
  • Maintain thorough and timely documentation of all sessions, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, following compliance and confidentiality standards.
  • Attend regular team meetings to discuss client progress and contribute to case conceptualization and recommendations.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this position will be on serving children and adolescents aged 3 to 20 who exhibit developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges. You will work closely with families to address their unique needs and ensure a supportive, therapeutic environment conducive to growth and healing. Special emphasis will be placed on using trauma-informed care principles as you engage with diverse client backgrounds.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, Social Work, or a related mental health field is required.
  • Possession of an active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license.
  • Availability for a minimum of 5–10 hours per week during after-school hours, typically from 4 PM to 7 PM, along with a willingness to adapt to weekend schedules when needed.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle are essential for in-home therapy sessions.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in delivering positive behavior support and intervention strategies.
  • Prior experience working directly with children and adolescents, particularly those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities in Spanish or Portuguese are a significant advantage, enhancing communication with diverse families.
Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 80,000 to 100,000 based on experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Group Health Coverage to ensure you and your family stay healthy.
  • Annual Paid Time Off, allowing for work-life balance.
  • Short and Long-Term Disability coverage for peace of mind.
  • A 401(k) retirement plan to help you save for the future.
  • Continuous opportunities for professional growth and ongoing job training.
  • A dynamic and supportive work environment that encourages your development and well-being.
Career Growth Opportunities

At Home and Community Mental Care, Inc., we believe in nurturing our employees' professional journeys. As part of our team, you will have access to career advancement opportunities, professional development workshops, and mentorship programs that aim to enhance your skills and support your career trajectory.

Why Join Our Team

By joining our team, you will be part of a mission-driven organization devoted to making a positive impact on children and families in need. Your work will help foster healthier communities and empower families to overcome challenges.
