What is remote wedding editing?

Remote wedding editing refers to the process of editing wedding photos or videos from a remote location, rather than working onsite or in a studio with the client. Editors receive raw footage or images digitally, apply color correction, retouching, and creative enhancements, and then deliver the final product online. This job enables flexibility for both clients and editors and allows couples to hire talented professionals regardless of location. Remote wedding editors must have strong communication skills to understand clients’ visions and technical expertise in editing software.

What are the main challenges faced by remote wedding editors, and how can they be addressed?

Remote wedding editors often face challenges such as collaborating with photographers and videographers from afar, managing large file transfers, and ensuring consistent communication about client preferences and deadlines. To address these, it’s important to establish clear communication channels, use cloud storage for efficient file sharing, and set up regular check-ins with creative teams. Staying organized and proactive helps maintain quality and meet client expectations, even when working remotely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Wedding Editor, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Wedding Editor, you need a strong background in photo and video editing, a keen eye for detail, and proficiency with industry-standard software like Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro. Familiarity with digital asset management systems and color grading tools is highly valued, and formal training or certification in digital media can be advantageous. Strong communication, time management, and creativity are important soft skills for collaborating with clients and meeting tight deadlines. These skills ensure high-quality, consistent output and client satisfaction in a competitive, fast-paced remote environment.

What You'll Do
For each wedding assigned to you, you'll deliver two edits from raw footage we provide:

  • A 3–5 minute cinematic highlight film — emotionally paced, music-driven, showcasing the best moments of the day

Requirements

  • Proven experience editing wedding films or comparable event/documentary work (portfolio required — include highlight reel links with your application)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve
  • Strong sense of pacing, music selection, color grading, and audio mixing (clean ceremony/toast audio is non-negotiable)

  • Ability to meet delivery deadlines and incorporate one round of client revisions per project

Details

  • Pay: $27.00/hour

  • Footage delivery: Raw files provided via Dropbox
  • Schedule: Project-based; volume varies with wedding season
