What is a remote Web3 developer?

A Remote Web3 Developer is a software engineer who specializes in building decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts that interact with blockchain technologies, all while working from a remote location. Their work often involves using programming languages like Solidity, JavaScript, or Rust, and frameworks such as Ethereum, Polkadot, or Solana. Remote Web3 Developers collaborate with global teams to create, test, and deploy blockchain-based solutions for various industries, including finance, gaming, and supply chain. With the rise of decentralized technologies, this role is in high demand and often offers flexible work arrangements. They must also stay updated on the rapidly evolving blockchain ecosystem.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote Web3 developer?

To thrive as a Remote Web3 Developer, you need strong programming skills in languages like Solidity or Rust, a solid understanding of blockchain technology, and experience with smart contract development. Familiarity with decentralized application (dApp) frameworks, version control systems like Git, and blockchain platforms such as Ethereum or Polkadot is typically required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective remote communication skills set outstanding candidates apart. These abilities are crucial for building secure, innovative blockchain solutions and collaborating effectively in distributed teams.

What are some common challenges a remote Web3 developer might face, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Web3 Developers often navigate rapidly evolving technologies and decentralized platforms, which can present unique challenges such as integrating with various blockchains, ensuring security in smart contracts, and keeping pace with frequent updates. Collaboration can also be complex since teams are often distributed globally and may work asynchronously. To address these challenges, developers can participate in regular virtual stand-ups, utilize collaborative tools like GitHub and Slack, and commit to continuous learning through online courses and community forums. Establishing clear communication channels and documenting processes also help maintain project coherence and security standards.

Job description

Saga is building a suite of products across the crypto ecosystem - from consumer fintech apps to DeFi protocols and the SagaEVM chain. Our mission is to build products and infrastructure that push the crypto ecosystem forward - whether that's consumer applications, DeFi primitives, or the chains themselves.
Our team is world-class - veteran web3 entrepreneurs and builders from Ignite (Tendermint), Apple, Twitter, NVIDIA, and Skuchain - and we're looking to grow as we scale Mino to millions of users.
We offer a flexible, remote working environment. You can expect a warm welcome from a friendly and international team that will support you in your personal and professional growth. This is an exciting opportunity to take an active part in the blockchain space and contribute to the decentralization of the future.
The Role
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll own the backend systems and infrastructure that power our products. You'll build the services, APIs, deployment pipelines, and platform tooling that enable a fast-moving product team to ship reliable, performant features to end users. This role sits at the intersection of backend development and infrastructure - you'll write application-level code and also make sure it runs smoothly at scale.
The Work
  • Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that power core product features (transactions, wallet management, DeFi integrations, user accounts)
  • Own and evolve the infrastructure layer - CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, deployment automation, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Build and operate scalable, reliable systems on cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar)
  • Develop high-quality, performant, modern, clean and readable code within tight deadlines
  • Develop internal tooling and platform primitives that accelerate the product engineering team
  • Implement observability, monitoring, and alerting to ensure high availability and fast incident response
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and frontend engineers to deliver end-to-end features
  • Contribute to architecture decisions, technical documentation, and engineering standards as the team grows
  • Own the development and maintenance of the project from ideation to deployment
Must Have
  • 7+ years of experience in backend engineering, with meaningful exposure to infrastructure, platform, or DevOps/SRE work
  • Strong proficiency in Golang (5+ years)
  • Experience designing and building production APIs and microservices at scale
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar)
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, or equivalent)
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for multi-service deployments
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, databases, and systems-level debugging
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Nice to Have
  • Experience with blockchain systems or integrating blockchain-based backends into consumer-facing products
  • Understanding of cryptographic primitives (public/private keys, hash functions, Merkle trees)
  • Experience with the Cosmos SDK / CometBFT technology stack
  • Background in fintech, payments, or wallet infrastructure
  • Experience with performance optimization, load testing, and capacity planning
  • Familiarity with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or similar)
  • Contributions to open-source projects

Benefits
  • Work remotely from anywhere in the world
  • Work on exciting things at the intersection of fintech and crypto
  • Flexible working hours
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Competitive salary
  • Stock options
  • Full benefits*

*Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401k retirement plans for US employees only.
