They use programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and various frameworks to create user-friendly and responsive web experiences. Remote web developers collaborate with clients and team members virtually, utilizing tools for communication, project management, and version control. This job offers flexibility and the opportunity to work with clients or companies worldwide.

What does a remote web developer do?

Remote web developers work in conjunction with a team to generate online traffic for their clients' products and services by creating eye-catching, efficient websites or web applications. Instead of working in the office, remote web developers complete their projects from home or another location outside of the office with internet connectivity. As a remote web developer, you utilize a client’s specifications to ensure that their website is easy to navigate and user-friendly. You use different programming and coding languages, including SOAP, REST, and other Web Services. You may create a database, an e-commerce website, or a content website, depending on the specifications of your client.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote web developer?

Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for remote work success. These skills ensure that developers can build robust web applications, collaborate efficiently across locations, and adapt to evolving project needs.

How do remote web developers typically collaborate with team members and stakeholders on projects?

Remote web developers commonly use a mix of communication tools like Slack, Zoom, and project management platforms such as Jira or Trello to stay connected with their teams. Regular stand-up meetings, code reviews, and collaborative documentation are essential to ensure everyone is aligned and project milestones are met. Developers often work closely with designers, product managers, and QA testers, requiring strong written and verbal communication skills to clarify requirements, share progress, and resolve issues efficiently. Embracing asynchronous communication and being proactive in providing updates can help overcome the challenges of working across different time zones.

Job description

Remote | Full-Time

Instrumental is looking for a UX Design Strategist to join our team and help create thoughtful, high-performing digital experiences for our clients. You’ll blend UX strategy, web design, and creativity to turn business goals and user needs into engaging experiences that drive results.

Who We Are

Instrumental is a digital sales and marketing agency based in Golden, Colorado and a proud Elite HubSpot Partner. We help growth-minded organizations build scalable, data-driven marketing and revenue systems within the HubSpot ecosystem.

We operate with authenticity, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of ownership. We are not the loudest agency in the room, but we consistently earn trust through high-quality work and measurable outcomes. Our team takes pride in building thoughtful systems and delivering meaningful client impact.

We have earned more HubSpot Impact Awards than any other agency because we stay focused on what matters most—delivering real results for clients. At Instrumental, strong culture and high standards go hand in hand.

We also embrace modern tools and workflows, including thoughtful use of AI, to improve speed, quality, and technical execution.

Who You Are

You are a strong digital professional who understands how great design supports user experience, marketing performance, and business outcomes.

You are confident collaborating across cross-functional teams, translating strategy into thoughtful execution, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working under deadlines without compromising quality.

You are proactive, reliable, and take ownership of your work from concept through completion.

You are also curious about how modern tools and emerging technologies can improve your workflow, efficiency, and creative output.

How We Think About AI

AI is part of how modern teams do great work.

At Instrumental, we encourage thoughtful experimentation with AI tools to improve creative workflows, accelerate production, and enhance output quality. AI is used to support better thinking and faster execution, not replace design craft.

We expect team members to be comfortable engaging with AI as part of their everyday toolkit and to stay curious as the technology evolves.

What You’ll Do

As a UX Design Strategist at Instrumental, you will:

  • Lead discovery and strategy for website redesign projects, including client research, design workshops, sitemap development, and user experience mapping
  • Translate client goals, user needs, SEO considerations, and conversion optimization strategies into thoughtful website experiences
  • Develop wireframes, page designs, and visual concepts that follow modern UX and digital design best practices
  • Present design concepts and recommendations to clients, confidently explaining the strategy behind your work
  • Create digital marketing assets including PDFs, calls-to-action, email graphics, social media graphics, advertisements, and other online materials
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, developers, strategists, and other internal team members to bring designs from concept through implementation
  • Support website implementation and quality assurance to ensure designs are executed accurately and consistently
  • Create, modify, and optimize graphics and source assets for digital use
  • Stay current with emerging UX methodologies, design trends, digital marketing practices, and design technologies
  • Manage multiple projects and deliverables while maintaining quality, organization, and deadlines
  • Work across tools such as HubSpot, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Google Workspace, Slack, and other modern design and collaboration platforms
What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and creative problem-solver who can balance great design with business objectives and user needs. You’ll bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in UX, web design, digital design, or a similar role
  • A compelling digital design portfolio that demonstrates strong UX thinking, visual design, and web design capabilities
  • Experience with modern UX design methodologies and user-centered design principles
  • Strong proficiency with design tools such as Sketch, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience designing websites and digital experiences from discovery through implementation
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use design best practices to improve user experience, engagement, and conversion
  • Experience creating, modifying, and optimizing digital graphics and source assets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in client-facing environments
  • The ability to confidently lead conversations, present ideas, and collaborate with clients and internal teams
  • Strong project and task management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
  • The ability to work independently while knowing when to collaborate, ask questions, or seek additional input
  • Experience working in an agency or client-services environment is a plus
  • Experience with HubSpot is a significant advantage
  • Basic coding or front-end development knowledge is a plus
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent professional experience
Why Work at Instrumental

We take care of our people and invest in their growth. Our benefits include:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • Accident insurance for extra peace of mind
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • 15 paid holidays plus a generous PTO policy
  • Quarterly incentive plan
  • A supportive, high-performing team that genuinely cares about one another

Most importantly, you’ll be joining a company that values collaboration, transparency, and doing great work together. We don’t just deliver for our clients, we build careers people are proud of.
