Position Summary:
As a Quality Engineer on the UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual Technology team, you will design, build, and deploy innovative quality engineering solutions and automated testing capabilities that power high-performance health benefit applications. In this role, you will leverage advanced technologies, enterprise-approved automation tools, and artificial intelligence to design intelligent testing frameworks, automate quality workflows, and streamline application validation. Your work will directly impact how employer health benefits and coverage solutions are delivered to millions of members, ensuring optimal functionality, reliability, and seamless user experiences.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered quality engineering solutions and test automation frameworks to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on responsible use of AI
  • Use enterprise-approved AI tools and automation platforms to streamline quality testing workflows, automate script creation, and drive continuous testing process improvements
  • Evaluate emerging trends and AI capabilities in software testing to inform solution design and strategic innovation within the engineering pipeline
  • Build, maintain, and execute automated test suites (functional, integration, regression, and performance) across web and enterprise software applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional software engineering, product, and architecture teams to analyze requirements, identify defect patterns, and improve application reliability
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI
  • Perform root-cause analysis on software defects, document test outcomes, and recommend technical enhancements to optimize overall system

Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or Software Quality Assurance
  • 2+ years of experience writing automated test scripts and building test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, TestNG, or similar)
  • 1+ years of experience building, deploying, or utilizing AI-driven tools, automated script generators, or AI-powered testing solutions
  • 1+ years of experience with relational databases and writing SQL queries for test data validation
  • 1+ years of experience working within an Agile/Scrum software development environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Experience in healthcare technology, employer-sponsored health benefits, or claims processing systems
  • Familiarity with CI/CD integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
  • Experience with API testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Postman, REST Assured)
  • Experience evaluating emerging AI trends and integrating LLMs or machine learning models into quality assurance pipelines

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $60,200 to $107,400 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
