MDW Associates is seeking an experienced Appian Lead Application Developer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in the design, development, modernization, and sustainment of enterprise business applications built on the Appian Low-Code Platform. The Lead Application Developer serves as a senior developer for all Appian solutions, providing development oversight, mentoring, and hands-on implementation support across the full software development lifecycle.The ideal candidate possesses relevant Appian expertise, strong systems integration experience, and a proven ability to lead Agile development teams delivering mission-critical business applications. This position is fully remote with occasional travel required to support customer meetings, program reviews, or project activities (if applicable). The Appian Lead Application Developer may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties: Support the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of Appian applications and workflow solutions.Serve as a technical authority for Appian platform capabilities, best practices, governance standards, and development methodologies.Design scalable and maintainable solutions utilizing Appian records, process models, interfaces, integrations, and data fabrics.Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, analysts, architects, and development teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.Develop and maintain integrations with enterprise systems, databases, APIs, and cloud-based platforms.Perform code reviews and establish development standards to ensure quality, security, performance, and maintainability.Troubleshoot complex system issues and provide root cause analysis and resolution recommendations.Lead Agile ceremonies, technical planning sessions, sprint reviews, and solution demonstrations.Mentor junior and mid-level developers and provide technical leadership across project teams.Support DevSecOps practices, deployment automation, configuration management, and continuous improvement initiatives.Monitor application performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization and modernization.Create and maintain technical documentation, design artifacts, deployment procedures, and operational support materials.Required Experience/Skills:5+ years of experience developing solutions on the Appian platform.Experience with JIRA and ConfluenceExperience leading technical teams and overseeing the delivery of enterprise application development projects.Experience designing and implementing Appian applications in production environments.Experience throughout the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment.Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.Experience integrating Appian with external systems using REST, SOAP, APIs, web services, and relational databases.Experience conducting code reviews and establishing development standards and best practices.Active Appian Certified Lead Developer Certification.Candidates may work from any U.S. location with reliable high-speed internet access.Desired Experience/Skills:Experience with the Appian Government Acquisition Management Suite (GAM)Experience with Appian architecture, performance tuning, and scalability optimization.Experience supporting Federal Government and DoW programs.Experience implementing DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines.Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and AzureExperience with Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern web technologies.Knowledge of enterprise security practices, identity management, and authorization frameworks.Appian Low-Code Platform, Process Models & IntegrationsBusiness Process Automation (BPM)SQL and Relational DatabasesREST/SOAP APIsJava and JavaScriptGit and Version ControlCI/CD PipelinesAgile/Scrum MethodologiesCloud Technologies (AWS/Azure)Education Requirement(s):Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.Security Requirement(s):Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance (Secret, TS, TS/SCI)Company DescriptionIncorporated in 2012, MDW is a small business headquartered in McClean, VA with employees in various locations in the United States.
