What is a remote web browser?

A Remote Web Browser is a tool or service that allows users to browse the internet using a web browser that runs on a remote server instead of their local device. This setup can enhance privacy, security, and performance by isolating browsing sessions from the user's computer and protecting against malware or tracking. Remote web browsers are often used in enterprise environments, secure research, or by individuals who want to access geo-restricted content. They can be accessed through web portals or specialized applications, providing a familiar browsing experience with added security benefits.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote web browser?

To thrive as a Remote Web Browser, you need strong internet research abilities, attention to detail, and proficiency in evaluating and verifying online information, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with various web browsers, search engines, content management systems, and sometimes data entry platforms is typically required. Excellent time management, self-motivation, and effective written communication help set candidates apart in remote roles. These skills are essential to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable internet research and data gathering in a distributed work environment.

What are some common challenges faced by remote web browsers when working with distributed teams?

Remote Web Browsers often collaborate with teams spread across different locations and time zones, which can make real-time communication and coordination challenging. Clear documentation, regular check-ins, and using shared project management tools can help ensure everyone stays aligned. Additionally, adapting to various web environments and client preferences requires flexibility and strong self-management skills. Building relationships with colleagues virtually also takes extra effort but is crucial for effective teamwork.

About the Company

We are an established software company with a long history of serving county and city governments. Today, we are transforming a broad portfolio of Windows-based applications into a modern SaaS suite of integrated products.

Our engineering organization supports both established products and the development of our next-generation SaaS platform. As products transition to the new platform, an increasing share of our engineering investment will focus on modernization.

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer (Full-Stack Web), you will play an important role in building our next generation of web-based ERP products for county and city governments.

This is a mid-level individual contributor role with end-to-end feature ownership. You will work across a React and TypeScript frontend, C#/.NET APIs, and SQL Server data to understand business workflows, collaborate on design, implement the user experience and supporting APIs, test your work, and follow it into production.

Success in this role means delivering reliable, maintainable features, collaborating effectively across product design and engineering, and developing a strong understanding of both the customer workflow and the technology supporting it.

Our frontend follows a feature-oriented structure, while our backend uses vertical slice architecture with ASP.NET Core, EF Core, SQL Server, and Azure. We are looking for strong production experience with React and TypeScript along with enough backend experience to build, debug, and improve web APIs and relational data access. Experience with another backend web framework is welcome if you are prepared to become productive in C#/.NET.

You will work closely with product design and senior frontend, backend, and platform engineers while helping establish patterns for the new SaaS platform as it grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build workflow-focused product features across React, TypeScript, REST APIs, and relational data access.
  • Own scoped features from clarification and technical design through implementation, testing, release, and production follow-up.
  • Contribute to C#/.NET and EF Core backend code while continuing to deepen your knowledge of the stack.
  • Translate designs into accessible, responsive, and maintainable interfaces for forms, tables, approvals, permissions, and other data-intensive workflows.
  • Work closely with the Product Design Lead to resolve interaction details and deliver a cohesive user experience.
  • Reuse and improve shared components and design-system patterns to create consistent user experiences.
  • Design and consume REST APIs, including validation, error handling, and clear frontend/backend contracts.
  • Work with relational schemas and an ORM to implement safe data changes and diagnose correctness or performance issues.
  • Help build import and integration workflows that move customer data into the new SaaS suite.
  • Write unit and integration tests that protect important user behaviors and business rules.
  • Diagnose issues across browser state, network boundaries, application code, and database queries.
  • Participate in backlog refinement, code review, pairing, and agile product delivery using GitHub and Linear.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully while remaining accountable for code quality and customer impact.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building production web applications.
  • Strong production experience with React and TypeScript.
  • Experience working with a backend web framework such as C#/.NET, Java/Spring, Python/FastAPI or Flask, Node.js, or a comparable stack.
  • Strong REST API fundamentals, including validation, error handling, authentication flows, and client/server debugging.
  • Experience with relational databases and an ORM, with the ability to reason about schemas, queries, and data integrity.
  • Practical unit and integration testing experience across frontend and backend code.
  • Experience working collaboratively with a product designer and interpreting design specifications.
  • Accessibility experience with complex forms, data grids, keyboard interaction, and WCAG guidance.
  • Fluency with Git-based collaboration and pull-request workflows.
  • Experience working on a modern agile product team and comfort working from an incremental backlog in Linear, Jira, or a comparable tool.
  • Practical experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or comparable tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a tactful, empathetic communication style.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Production experience with C#/.NET, ASP.NET Core, EF Core, and SQL Server.
  • Experience contributing to a design system or component library, including tools such as Storybook or Chromatic.
  • Experience with Azure or another cloud platform and exposure to CI/CD pipelines.
  • Greenfield or 0-to-1 product development experience.
  • Finance, payroll, ERP, fintech, or local-government domain experience.
  • Experience in regulated or audit-focused product environments.

Why Join CIC

  • Own meaningful web features across the stack from design and implementation through production.
  • Work closely with product design and senior engineers while helping establish patterns for a new SaaS platform.
  • Build new software informed by decades of customer relationships and domain knowledge.
  • Solve complex forms, permissions, reporting, and data workflows that support the people running local governments.
  • Join a collaborative team focused on practical delivery, maintainable systems, and continuous improvement.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, with the company paying 75% of monthly premiums.
  • 401(k) with company contributions.
  • Vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays to support work-life balance.
