This position the Market Development Specialist (MDS) is a critical part of Visual Comfort’s growth strategy. The MDS is responsible for growing Visual Comfort’s business by calling on Interior Designers in non-showroom markets. A successful MDS is an active listener, has a compelling sales personality and a drive to chase and close new business from cold calls and warm leads. This role will focus on building relationships with and educating customers and prospects on Visual Comfort’s products and services. The MDS position is an inside sales position with 100% of the customer interaction being virtual; utilizing phone, email, zoom, and social media.

How success is defined: 

  • Leads all aspects of the sales process, while leveraging other sales, marketing and operational resources to assist in solution development or implementation.
  • Utilize existing customer and target lists to contact potential clients to establish rapport and schedule meetings. 
  • Execute structured warm and cold calling plan to a target list in excess of 400 accounts. 
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure a best-in-class client experience. 
  • Conduct virtual presentations daily. 
  • Effectively present Visual Comfort’s value proposition to influence potential customers. 
  • Utilize CRM to effectively manage sales call cadence, pipeline, and customer follow-up. 
  • Ability to work autonomously through the sales process from lead to converted sale. 

What you will bring:

 

  • 2+ years of sales experience in consultative sales environment
  • 3+ years inside sales experience 
  • Sales experience in interior design, building products, or home furnishings 
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) preferred or equivalent experience 
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills with experience in public speaking 
  • Superior organizational skills with excellent attention to detail 
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and changing priorities 
  • Keen eye for design and creativity 
  • Ability to achieve results both independently and through collaboration 
  • High energy, independent, proactive, and self-motivated 

Compensation: $50,000 plus monthly commission

Compensation is based on individual factors, including skill set, relevant experience, and work location
