What is a remote vulnerability analyst?

A Remote Vulnerability Analyst is a cybersecurity professional who identifies, assesses, and helps mitigate security vulnerabilities in an organization's digital systems, typically while working from a remote location. They analyze networks, applications, and other IT assets to find weaknesses that could be exploited by cyber attackers. Their responsibilities often include conducting vulnerability scans, reviewing security reports, and collaborating with IT teams to recommend solutions. This role is crucial for proactively protecting sensitive data and ensuring the overall security posture of an organization.

Job description

Position: Technical Business Analyst (Senior - Security/Software Focus)

Location: Remote

Duration: 6-12+ Months Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking highly skilled Senior Technical Business Analysts with strong knowledge of software and security environments. This role goes beyond traditional BA responsibilities — the ideal candidate will be able to translate vulnerability findings into actionable technical requirements, identify impacted applications and processes, document remediation needs, and coordinate with engineering and security teams to ensure vulnerabilities are tracked through resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate AI‑generated or scanner‑based vulnerability findings into clear, actionable technical and business requirements.

  • Identify impacted applications, systems, and processes, and document remediation needs.

  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams to prioritize and track remediation activities.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of vulnerabilities, remediation steps, and resolution timelines.

  • Support secure SDLC practices by ensuring vulnerabilities are integrated into backlog and sprint planning.

  • Facilitate communication between technical and non‑technical stakeholders to align on remediation priorities.

  • Provide risk analysis and reporting to leadership, highlighting severity, exploitability, and business impact.

  • Use tools such as Jira (or similar) to track findings, remediation progress, and closure.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of vulnerability management and remediation tracking processes.

Required Skills
  • Strong background in software/application environments with security awareness.

  • Experience in requirement gathering, technical documentation, and data analysis.

  • Hands‑on experience with Jira or similar tools for issue tracking and remediation workflows.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and sprint planning.

  • Knowledge of risk management, vulnerability assessment, and remediation tracking.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business perspectives.

Ideal Profile
  • Considerably more technical than a standard BA — someone who understands both security vulnerabilities and how they map to technical remediation.

  • Background in software engineering, application security, or product security combined with business analysis skills.

  • Proven ability to work across multiple teams and ensure vulnerabilities are remediated effectively.
