Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Senior to join our distributed team. You will manage client engagements, prepare and review complex tax returns, provide advisory services, and mentor junior staff. This role requires strong technical expertise, a background in public accounting, and the ability to thrive in a high-performing virtual environment.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation & Review: Lead the preparation and review of federal and state returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations (S-Corps/C-Corps) with high attention to compliance.
Engagement Management: Oversee full-cycle client engagements from planning and scheduling through to final delivery and workpaper documentation.
Advisory & Research: Perform complex tax research and provide practical, actionable guidance to clients and internal stakeholders.
Client Communication: Act as a primary point of contact, gathering information and explaining complex tax strategies in clear, plain language.
Mentorship: Supervise and develop junior staff by providing constructive feedback and reviewing technical work.
Strategy: Proactively identify tax planning opportunities to minimize client liabilities while ensuring adherence to current tax law.
Qualifications
Required: 3+ years of progressive tax experience within a public accounting firm.
Required: Demonstrated expertise in complex tax preparation (1040, 1065, 1120-S, 1120) and review.
Required: Proven ability to work independently and maintain high quality standards in a remote environment.
Preferred: CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) license (or currently pursuing).
Skills: Strong technical research skills, proficiency in tax software and Excel, and a collaborative approach to virtual teamwork.
Soft Skills: Exceptional time management skills with the ability to handle multiple engagements and meet strict deadlines.
