About McCracken Alliance

McCracken Alliance places fractional and interim CFOs, project-based finance leaders, and executive search candidates into lower middle market and private-equity-backed companies. The firm works through a bench of more than 200 experienced finance executives, matching the right leader to each situation rather than filling a seat. Clients range from founder-owned businesses to portfolio companies preparing for a transaction.

About the role

McCracken generates steady demand through paid search, outbound campaigns, and organic content. Calls get booked and conversations happen. What needs an owner is everything that comes after: recaps, handoffs to the talent team, scheduled next steps, and a CRM that reflects what is actually going on.

This role owns that machinery. The work happens behind the scenes, and it is the difference between a prospect who feels attended to and one who quietly goes cold.

What you will do

Follow-up execution. Draft recap emails for review and send. Coordinate introductions to the Head of Talent. Schedule next steps and confirm they land on calendars. Track every opportunity against the defined sequence and flag anything that has stalled.

Salesforce hygiene. Keep opportunity records accurate and current. Apply stages consistently. Populate next steps and close dates on every open opportunity. Merge duplicates, correct contact data, and map account relationships. This is the highest-value part of the job.

Pipeline reporting. Prepare a weekly pipeline and forecast summary for leadership review. Surface stalled opportunities by name and identify activity gaps before the weekly meeting rather than during it.

Lead intake and routing. Triage, enrich, assign, and log inbound leads from paid campaigns, web forms, and booking links. Filter out obvious noise before it reaches anyone’s calendar.

Document and engagement coordination. Assemble proposal and scope documents from approved templates. Track signatures. Confirm that engagement details reach the talent team and accounting cleanly.

Marketing systems support. Manage lists and segmentation in ActiveCampaign and the outbound sending platform. Maintain suppression lists. Report on sequence and campaign performance back to the marketing team.

What success looks like in ninety days

  1. Every open opportunity in Salesforce carries an accurate stage, a named next step, and a close date.
  2. The post-call follow-up sequence runs on every opportunity without anyone issuing a reminder.
  3. A weekly pipeline summary is ready before the leadership meeting, prepared rather than assembled live.
  4. Inbound leads are logged and routed the same day they arrive.

What the role requires

  • Two to five years in sales operations, revenue operations, sales support, or client-service administration, ideally at a professional services, staffing, or B2B services firm
  • Working Salesforce proficiency: creating and editing records, building list views and basic reports, running imports, and maintaining data quality. Administrator certification is not required.
  • Clear, professional written communication, since much of the work involves drafting correspondence that others will send
  • Comfort with email platforms, scheduling tools, and spreadsheets
  • Genuine attention to detail, and the persistence to chase down a missing field or an unanswered question without being asked twice

Helpful, though not required:

  • Exposure to finance, accounting, or professional services
  • Experience with ActiveCampaign, Instantly, Apollo, or comparable platforms
  • Salesforce Administrator certification

Compensation and growth

This position pays $40 per hour for approximately 20 to 25 hours per week.

The role does not carry commission at the outset. The work is coordination rather than origination, and the compensation structure reflects that honestly. What the role does carry is room to grow. McCracken is building out its commercial function, and the scope of this seat is not fixed. Someone who demonstrates capability and appetite will find the responsibilities widen over time, and compensation is reviewed as that happens. Additional forms of compensation, including performance-based components, are considered for people who have proven themselves and taken on more than the role was originally drawn to hold.

Company Description

McCracken Alliance is a partnership of experienced CFOs, Controllers, and finance leaders that strengthens “the Office of the CFO” through on-demand executive talent and leadership development.

What we do:

Executive services (on-demand finance leadership): Interim CFO/Controller, Fractional CFO/Controller, and Virtual CFO/Controller support—step-in leadership for transitions or ongoing part-time strategic guidance.

Finance talent needs: Help companies fill leadership gaps (e.g., interim CFO needs, hiring a new controller) and augment teams for special projects.

Strategic/project support: Help with things like raising capital, due diligence, and M&A-related work; plus modernizing the finance function via software migration support.

Coaching + leadership development: CFO coaching and structured programs (Leading the Office of the CFO, CFO Leadership Program, Finance Team Leadership Program) plus a peer network (Financial Leadership Network).

Permanent placement (when you need a full-time leader): executive search to recruit and land a long-term fit.
