Job description

Summary The ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Developer designs data storage solutions, develops technical specifications, creates and maintains ETL jobs within multiple large projects, and monitors and enhances report query performance for the Enterprise Reporting environments at BGSU. The ETL Developer will interpret and transform information based on business requirements and provide the data for delivery in support of University strategic initiatives. Essential Functions Works in conjunction with Bi developers in analyzing data requirements, performing data discovery on complex source data, designing the data model and building the tables, views, procedures, and ETL jobs to populate the data warehouse and other data stores.

Conducts continual testing to ensure the accuracy and quality of data extracted from transactional databases and stored in the data warehouse and other datastores. Works with Data Governance and functional teams to ensure data quality. Provides technical support and consultation to report developers.

Provides support documentation. Performs troubleshooting and maintenance on ETL applications and jobs. Develops, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots nightly and weekly job schedules; send communications when jobs fail.

Works with Systems and Database Administrators to manage database strategy and performance. Investigates tools and technologies related to supporting Business Intelligence systems. Participates in webinars, presentations, and self-study to broaden knowledge base and stay current in the field.

Performs other duties as needed which apply to the related technical skill set. Minimum Qualifications The following Degree is required: Bachelor's degree Bachelors Degree in Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field preferred The following Experience is required: 3 years experience in ETL/Business Intelligence development, database design, SQL, and programing 3 years experience in technical definition and data mapping 3 years experience in understanding data warehouse processes 3 years of hands on technical experience in data warehouse projects The following Experience is preferred: Experience with ERP (PeopleSoft preferred) and ETL tools (Talend preferred), and Databases (Oracle databases preferred) Additional Information Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong problem solving, Communication and technical writing skills Knowledge of data warehouse ETL tools, preferably Talend Knowledge of SQL coding for relational databases Knowledge of dimensional data models and Ralph Kimball methodology for data warehouses Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools, preferably Microsoft Power Bi Ability to transform transactional data into executive information This is a full-time position located in Bowling Green, Ohio, which offers the option for a flexible/hybrid work schedule (remote/on-campus).
