What is remote videography?

Remote videography is the process of capturing, producing, and editing video content without being physically present at the filming location. This often involves directing shoots via video calls, using remote-controlled cameras, or guiding clients and crew on how to film themselves. Remote videographers leverage technology to collaborate with clients, manage footage, and deliver high-quality videos from anywhere in the world, making it a flexible and efficient solution for many businesses and creators.

How do remote videographers collaborate with clients and team members during video projects?

Remote videographers typically use a combination of cloud-based platforms for file sharing, project management tools, and video conferencing to collaborate with clients and colleagues. Clear communication is essential, as project briefs, feedback, and revisions are often managed asynchronously. Many videographers set regular check-ins to ensure alignment on creative vision and deadlines. Building strong relationships remotely requires proactive communication and the ability to adapt to various digital workflows.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote videographer?

To thrive as a Remote Videographer, you need expertise in video production techniques, camera operation, and editing, usually backed by experience or a degree in film, media, or a related field. Proficiency with editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and familiarity with cloud-based collaboration tools is essential. Retirement, PTO

Key responsibilities

  • Shoot, edit, and produce video content including customer case studies, product animations, social media videos, event coverage, and employee spotlights.

  • Develop creative concepts, storylines, scripts, and shot lists, and drive the production process from idea to published asset.

  • Leverage AI tools to streamline video production workflows, including scripting, editing, motion graphics, and localization.

Job description

AI doesn't run in one place anymore. It runs in the browser tab, the desktop app, the agent your engineers kicked off, and the copilot embedded in the tools you already pay for. Harmonic Security governs all of it.
Our AI Governance and Control (AIGC) platform sits on the device, inside the interaction, at the moment of action, reading what AI is actually doing (not just the traffic around it) and acting in under 200ms. Security teams get full visibility and control across every AI surface, including the agentic and MCP layer that traditional tools can't see. Their people get to innovate without guardrails slowing them down.
Named to the Rising in Cyber 2026 list, Harmonic is gaining serious recognition and serious traction. We're led by deep cybersecurity expertise and backed by investors who know the space: N47, Ten Eleven Ventures, and In-Q-Tel.
As AI adoption inside the enterprise accelerates, the ability to safely observe, control, and enforce policy in real time isn't a nice-to-have. It's mission-critical infrastructure. That's what we build.
How We Work: AI-First by Design
Harmonic exists to help enterprises adopt AI safely and at scale. We hold ourselves to that same standard. Everyone here actively uses AI tools to do their best work, from research and writing to building automated workflows. We expect every new hire to bring genuine curiosity for AI and a commitment to working smarter and faster with it.
For some, this means staying open to new tools. For others, it means architecting new systems with AI at the core. We're transparent about expectations for every role, and we give you the tools and support to thrive.
About the Team
The Brand team tells the Harmonic story - to customers, prospects, the security community, and the people who might one day join us. We move fast, hold a high creative bar, and believe the best B2B content doesn't feel like B2B content. Video is becoming the centerpiece of how we show up in the market, and this role is the person who makes that happen.
About the Role
We're looking for a Videographer to own video at Harmonic, end to end. Reporting to the Director of Brand, you'll shoot, edit, and produce content across the full spectrum: customer case studies, product animations, social media and digital content, event coverage, company offsites, employee spotlights, and short-form digestible content that makes complex security topics land.
This is not just a shooting-and-editing role. We expect you to be a creative force: to come up with the ideas, own the narrative behind every piece, and drive execution from concept to publish. You'll decide what stories are worth telling, how to tell them, and where they should live - then make them. You'll also lean heavily on AI tooling to streamline production and multiply your output, from pre-production and scripting through editing, versioning, and repurposing.
What You'll Do
  • Own video at Harmonic: strategy, creative ideas, narrative, production, and delivery
  • Shoot and edit customer case study videos that make our champions look great and win deals
  • Produce product animations and demo-style videos that make the platform easy to understand
  • Create a steady drumbeat of short-form social content optimized for digital, social media marketing channels and beyond
  • Turn complex AI security topics into digestible, engaging video content
  • Capture and produce content from events, company offsites, and employee spotlights that bring Harmonic's culture to life
  • Develop the concepts and storylines yourself - pitch ideas, write scripts and shot lists, and drive them through to finished work
  • Build repeatable production workflows, leveraging AI tools across scripting, editing, motion, versioning, and localization to move faster without sacrificing quality
  • Manage the video pipeline end to end: equipment, filming logistics, asset library, and publishing
  • Partner closely with the Director of Brand and teams across marketing, sales, product, and people to spot stories worth telling

What You Bring
  • 3+ years of professional experience shooting and editing video, with a portfolio or reel that shows range: interviews / talking heads, short-form social, motion graphics or basic animation, and event coverage
  • Strong hands-on craft across the full production stack: camera operation, lighting, audio, editing (e.g. Premiere Pro / DaVinci Resolve / Final Cut), and motion design (e.g. After Effects)
  • Proven ability to own a project from idea to published asset - concept, narrative, script, shoot, edit, delivery
  • A storyteller's instinct: you know how to find the human angle, structure a narrative, and hold attention in the first three seconds
  • Fluency with (or hunger to master) AI video and production tools to accelerate every stage of the workflow
  • Comfort working solo and moving fast: you don't need a big crew or a big brief to produce great work
  • Willingness to travel for customer shoots, events, and company offsites

You Might Be a Great Fit If
  • Have built video content for B2B tech, SaaS, or cybersecurity brands - or believe you can make "enterprise software" content people actually want to watch
  • Think in ideas first and equipment second - the story matters more than the gear
  • Have opinions about what makes video work on social, backed by things you've shipped
  • Get energy from variety: a customer shoot one week, a product animation the next, an offsite recap after that
  • Treat AI tools as a creative multiplier, not a threat - and are constantly experimenting with new ones
  • Thrive in fast-paced startup environments where ambiguity is the norm
  • Want to shape how an entire company shows up on camera, not just execute someone else's brief
Why Join Us
This isn't just a job, it's a chance to help define a category, and to build this chapter of the story from its first page. We're building at the intersection of AI and security, where the rules haven't been written yet, and the people who join now will write them.
  • Recognized momentum: named to Rising in Cyber 2026, a signal the market is taking notice
  • Rare market opportunity: join early in a category-defining company shaping how enterprises tackle one of tech's biggest unsolved problems
  • Competitive pay and meaningful equity: a real stake in Harmonic's success, not a token gesture
  • Comprehensive benefits: 401K, generous PTO
  • A small, high-trust team: transparency, creativity, continuous learning, no politics, no bureaucracy
  • Thoughtful leadership that cares about your growth, not just your output
  • Annual global off-sites: past trips include Lisbon and Nashville
  • Real ownership: you'll shape a new part of the company from day one
