JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
We are searching for a motivated undergraduate student to jointhe Visualization and Decision Support Divisionat the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. This fall/springinternship willconcentrate on gaining hands-on experience in AI/ML data preparation and contributing to meaningful research
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
Typical focus areas include:
- Label and annotate diverse datasets with a primary focus on geospatial data such as tracks, images, video, text, and sensor data
- Support AI/ML model development for Navy, Department of Defense (DoD), and Intelligence Community (IC) applications
- Utilize industry-standard and custom labeling tools while collaborating with AI/ML researchers and engineers to understand requirements and contribute to data quality assurance processes
Students majoring in the following fields are encouraged to apply:
- Undergraduate students in a STEM major (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Information Sciences, or related fields)
Interest Skills/Experience areas include:
- Drive to learn and grow in the AI/ML field
- Commitment to data quality
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred but not required:
- Interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data science
- Familiarity with geospatial concepts or mapping technologies
- Previous experience with data analysis or annotation at any level
You will work up to 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters and have the opportunity to work up to 40 hours/week over the summer. This is a paid internship opportunity, and location will befully on-site located in State College, PA
