What are some common challenges faced by remote veterinary professionals?

Remote veterinary professionals often encounter challenges such as limited ability to perform hands-on exams and procedures, which can require creative problem-solving and clear communication with pet owners. Ensuring accurate assessment and treatment recommendations over video consultations means relying heavily on observation, owner-provided information, and digital tools. Additionally, building rapport and trust without in-person interaction can take extra effort, but it’s very achievable with empathy and professionalism. With training and the right resources, remote veterinarians can provide excellent care and support while overcoming these unique challenges.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Veterinary position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Veterinary professional, you need a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, state licensure, and solid experience in animal diagnosis and treatment. Familiarity with telemedicine platforms, digital medical records, and diagnostic imaging tools is often required to effectively deliver virtual care. Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and a compassionate bedside manner are crucial for remotely supporting pet owners and collaborating with in-person veterinary teams. These skills ensure high-quality care, client trust, and smooth case management in a remote work environment.

What is a Remote Veterinary job?

A Remote Veterinary job involves providing virtual consultations, telehealth services, and professional advice to pet owners via phone or video calls. Veterinarians in this role may assess symptoms, offer treatment recommendations, and determine if an in-person visit is necessary. While they cannot perform physical exams or procedures remotely, they help with general pet health concerns, follow-ups, and prescription advice. This role allows vets to assist pet owners from anywhere, improving accessibility to veterinary care.

Job description

Company Description

Alliance Animal Health is a fast-growing private equity backed, Veterinary Service Organization that operates as a majority owner and business partner to many veterinarian practices across the US. Our goal is to make it easier for our practices at every step by providing world-class business solutions like talent acquisition, marketing, human resources, finance, and operations, so that they can focus their energy on providing incredible care for animals. In fact, our Core Values are (quite literally) written with PETS in mind: Passion, Engagement, Trust and Service.

We want our doctor partners to choose what's best for their practice because they are the experts in medicine, while we customize the support, the co-ownership approach, and business solutions based on their goals. We pride ourselves on maintaining a culture of open communication and collaboration to deliver innovative solutions to advance today's veterinary environment - without disrupting the medical autonomy and what makes each of our hospitals unique. Because at the end of the day, our central support team exists to serve our practices. So, if you're excited about using your talents to make an impact on the health and wellness of pets - we'd love to talk with you!

Job Description

We have an immediate opportunity for a Mergers & Acquisitions Analyst to join our already successful and fast-growing business development team. In the past 12 months, our team has evaluated 100+ opportunities and successfully closed over 25 deals. Reporting to the Senior Analyst, M&A Analytics, you'll partner with the Vice President of Finance & M&A and the broader business development team - including the Chief Development Officer, SVP of Business Development, and Regional Directors - as an integral contributor to the company's growth.

To be successful in this position you must be a self-starter - energetic, team-oriented, and ready to jump in and get the job done! You should have an innate desire to analyze, value and execute M&A opportunities that you're presented with. Animal Health or multi-site healthcare experience and finance / accounting industry background is strongly preferred. You should be comfortable with highly strategic, complex, and long analysis cycles and able to explain complex financial matters in a way that the average person can understand.

In this role, you will:

  • Analyze financial information from practice owners, participate in internal investment committee discussions, and address follow-up questions and concerns.
  • Update financial models to assess the profitability of target hospitals.
  • Assist in drafting Letters of Intent (LOIs) for target practices.
  • Prepare deal summaries and presentations for the investment committee, executive team, and prospective sellers.

Support due diligence by reviewing financial statements and bank records, reconciling reported results to source data, and flagging risks and adjustments for the deal team.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years accounting / corporate finance experience, preferably in a multi-unit healthcare environment. Areas of analysis focus should include historical key metrics such as profitability, revenue mix, labor ratios, client mix, location demographics and other business insights.
  • A BS/BA from a 4-year accredited institution is required.
  • Experience preparing financial & market analysis of specific geographic areas to determine deal viability and growth opportunity.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience required with a focus on manipulating large data sets.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI tools to support financial analysis and presentation development, with curiosity to explore new applications as our team's AI capabilities expand.
  • Exceptional organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • Efficient worker capable of working in a remote environment while remaining highly collaborative with the team.
  • Experience performing detailed forecasts of acquisitions.
  • Results driven, high work integrity and positive, can-do attitude and professional outlook.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

This role is not eligible for remote work outside the US.
