What is remote vehicle tracking?

Remote vehicle tracking is the use of technology, such as GPS and telematics, to monitor the location, movement, and status of vehicles from a distance. This system allows businesses and individuals to track vehicles in real-time, improve route planning, enhance security, and manage fleets more efficiently. Remote vehicle tracking can also provide data on driver behavior, vehicle usage, and maintenance needs, which helps in optimizing operations and reducing costs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote vehicle tracking specialist?

To thrive as a Remote Vehicle Tracking Specialist, you need a solid understanding of GPS tracking systems, fleet management concepts, and data analysis, often supported by relevant technical training or a background in logistics or IT. Familiarity with fleet management software, mapping tools, and telematics platforms is typically required, along with certifications in logistics or information technology being beneficial. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for managing multiple vehicles and reporting to stakeholders. These skills and qualities are essential for ensuring the efficient monitoring, safety, and optimization of vehicle fleets.

At McGraw Hill we create best-in-class, next-generation learning platforms that are used by millions of students and educators worldwide from kindergarten through graduate school. Our goal is to accelerate student success through intuitive and effective learning tools and content that maximize a teacher’s time and a student’s learning experience. We do all of this in a supportive, collaborative environment where you can grow your career in a way that fits into your life.

How can you make an impact?

We’re looking for a Core Sales Representative to join our team. Reporting to a Senior District Sales Manager in our School Sales Organization, the Sales Representative will be responsible for driving Prek-12 sales across the Hudson River and Mohawk Valleys by connecting with faculty and key stake holders at the school and district-level. Sales Representatives are experienced communicators who are highly organized, data-driven, and have the ability to quickly learn and leverage new technologies to maximize the impact of McGraw Hill solutions on educators and learners. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial spirit – is willing to seek out, engage and close business all while working in a dynamic/complex environment. Intellectual curiosity and an appreciation for educational institutions are keys to success in this role.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. Candidates must live within the New York State Capital area.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop understanding and knowledge in the K-12 space, including fragile populations, while creating and executing marketing and strategic territory plans with excellent organization and follow-through. Prioritize the customer base and ensure availability, visibility, and promotional activity aligned with that base.
  • Proficiently use and adapt to multiple software programs, platforms, and devices, while learning independently by conducting research, synthesizing information, and applying knowledge from a variety of resources.
  • Communicate internally and externally to influence sales, marketing, and product development strategies, and interact collaboratively with key stakeholders and internal partners while supporting company growth and fostering a positive climate within a tight-knit team.
  • Work remotely while traveling up to 75% of the time by ground to effectively support territory management and customer engagement.
  • Manage company resources, including the company-provided vehicle, company credit card, home office, and computer equipment.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor's degree and evidence of being a high achiever with a demonstrated track record of success.
  • At least 2 years of sales experience with a strong understanding of the K-12 space.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment, adapt to change, think outside the box, and solve problems independently.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, communication, and time management skills, along with a demonstrated understanding of productivity software, including Microsoft Office applications with a strong emphasis on Excel.
  • A competitive spirit and passion to succeed, with the ability to travel up to 75% of the time, including occasional overnight stays.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
