Job description

We are designing the grid of the future!

We are seeking a Power Systems Engineer to join our team supporting power plant testing, commissioning, and compliance verification for generation facilities across North America.

In this role, you will lead and support remote and on-site generator compliance testing for renewable and conventional generation assets, ensuring facilities meet applicable NERC and ISO requirements. You will coordinate with on-site teams, guide testing procedures in real time, and analyze test results to validate proper plant and controller performance.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work on specialized generator compliance testing, including ISO (ERCOT, SPP, PJM, etc) and NERC (MOD-025, MOD-026, and MOD-027) testing, while collaborating with plant operators, engineers, and equipment vendors to support reliable grid operations.

How you can make an impact:

  • Lead and support generator compliance testing and commissioning activities for renewable and conventional power plants.
  • Conduct and oversee remote testing sessions, directing on-site technicians and plant operators during testing procedures.
  • Provide real-time guidance to on-site teams executing testing protocols at generation facilities.
  • Monitor and analyze live test data to verify plant performance and identify potential issues.
  • Support compliance testing for NERC standards including MOD-025, MOD-026, and MOD-027.
  • Work with plant operators, SCADA teams, OEMs, and other stakeholders to ensure proper test execution.
  • Interpret test results and prepare technical reports documenting compliance and plant performance.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of testing procedures and workflows.
  • Support engineering analysis related to power plant controllers, inverter-based resources, and generator performance.

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in power systems.
  • Experience supporting power plant testing, commissioning, or generator compliance activities.
  • Familiarity with ERCOT and/or NERC compliance testing requirements.
  • Experience with MOD-025, MOD-026, and MOD-027 testing standards.
  • Understanding of power plant controllers and generator control systems.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and direct on-site teams during testing activities.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence presenting technical information to stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and produce clear engineering documentation and reports.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting generator performance testing for renewable or conventional generation facilities.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, plant control systems, or inverter-based resources.
  • Knowledge of power flow and power system fundamentals.
  • Experience working with utilities, independent power producers, or renewable developers.
