A Remote UX Designer is a professional who designs user experiences for digital products such as websites and apps while working from a location outside of a traditional office setting. They focus on understanding user needs, creating wireframes and prototypes, and ensuring products are intuitive and user-friendly. Remote UX Designers collaborate with teams using online tools, communicate through video calls and messaging platforms, and often work with clients or colleagues across different time zones. Their role combines creativity, research, and technical skills to improve overall user satisfaction.

What does a remote UX designer do?

As a remote UX designer, your responsibilities are to help your client or employer design and improve the user experience of a website, application, or piece of software, such as an operating system. Your specific duties include design functions, such as developing wireframes, which are simplified designs of websites or visual components of an app that help conceptualize and communicate the functions of the program. You also conduct testing of finished products and use feedback from users or beta testers to improve the user experience.

Rev

Job description

There's never been a more exciting time to be part of Rev.
Every role here plays a critical part in shaping the future of speech technology and empowering our customers to do more, faster. We didn't disrupt the industry by playing it safe. We did it by embracing bold thinking, welcoming diverse perspectives, and giving our team the freedom and responsibility to innovate. At Rev, you won't just have a seat at the table - you'll help redesign it.
Come build what's next with us
How this role will Serve, Own and Grow at Rev:
In this role, you'll lead the design of innovative products that transform how people capture, understand, and act on insights from conversations, files, and meetings. You'll work closely with our Head of Product, product managers, engineers, customers, and other stakeholders to turn complex workflows and sophisticated AI capabilities into simple, intuitive, and trustworthy experiences.
Rev is an AI-first company, and we're looking for a designer who is excited to help define what AI-native design looks like in practice. You'll use AI throughout the design process to accelerate exploration, synthesize research, develop and test concepts, create prototypes, and improve collaboration. You'll also help establish stronger design systems and repeatable processes that allow our teams to move faster without sacrificing quality or customer empathy.
This is a hands-on individual-contributor role-not a traditional design-management position. You'll independently own significant product initiatives from discovery through delivery and iteration, influence product direction, and elevate design quality across Rev. For someone with previous leadership experience, the role may also include mentoring or player-coach responsibilities while remaining deeply involved in day-to-day execution.
Responsibilities:
As a Lead Product Designer, operating at the Senior-to-Staff level, you will:
  • Own complex product experiences from customer discovery and problem definition through concept development, prototyping, delivery, measurement, and iteration
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to translate customer needs, business priorities, technical constraints, and product data into intuitive AI-powered experiences
  • Simplify complex workflows involving automated speech recognition, conversational intelligence, and related technologies
  • Design cohesive experiences across web, desktop, and mobile products
  • Create user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, detailed interfaces, and production-ready designs in Figma
  • Work closely with Engineering throughout implementation to maintain design quality and resolve tradeoffs efficiently
  • Use AI throughout your workflow to accelerate research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, testing, documentation, and iteration
  • Rapidly build and test functional concepts using AI-enabled design and prototyping tools such as Claude Design, v0, Builder.io, Replit, Lovable, Base44, or similar platforms
  • Experiment with emerging AI tools and help establish effective, repeatable AI-enabled design practices across the organization
  • Conduct customer discovery and usability testing, using qualitative and quantitative insights to improve shipped experiences
  • Use product analytics and customer insights to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and inform design iterations
  • Design trustworthy AI experiences that thoughtfully address uncertainty, transparency, user control, correction, failure states, and error recovery
  • Recognize when AI can meaningfully improve the customer experience-and when it is not the right solution
  • Strengthen Rev's design system, including its components, patterns, documentation, governance, and connection to Engineering implementation
  • Establish repeatable processes that improve design quality, consistency, ownership, collaboration, and speed
  • Serve as a senior design voice across the Build organization by communicating design rationale, facilitating critiques, and advocating for the customer
  • Build alignment across Product, Engineering, and key stakeholders by listening with empathy, communicating clearly, making decisions efficiently, and acting with urgency
  • Depending on experience, mentor other designers and provide player-coach leadership while maintaining substantial hands-on ownership

Qualifications:
  • Significant experience as a UX or Product Designer, with demonstrated success operating at the Senior, Staff, or Lead level
  • A compelling portfolio demonstrating recent, hands-on, end-to-end ownership of complex product experiences and meaningful customer or business impact
  • Strong interaction, UX, and visual-design capabilities across responsive web and mobile experiences
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping methods
  • Experience conducting customer research and usability testing and translating qualitative and quantitative insights into product improvements
  • Demonstrated, sustained use of AI throughout the design process, with specific examples of how it improved speed, quality, experimentation, or outcomes
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools to move quickly from an idea or design concept to an interactive or functional prototype
  • Experience designing AI-powered products or features, including thoughtful approaches to trust, uncertainty, transparency, user control, correction, and failure states
  • Experience contributing to or strengthening a scalable design system
  • A history of successful collaboration with Product and Engineering, including the ability to communicate design decisions and tradeoffs clearly
  • The ability to independently lead ambiguous, high-impact initiatives while moving fluidly between strategic thinking and detailed execution
  • The ability to create clarity, introduce appropriate structure, and move work forward without adding unnecessary bureaucracy
  • Strong product judgment, systems thinking, accountability, and a bias toward action, experimentation, and measurable customer outcomes
  • A strong foundation in user-centered design, information architecture, responsive design, and accessibility

Nice to Have:
  • Experience with AI products, B2B SaaS, legal technology, media workflows, speech technology, or conversational intelligence
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled design and prototyping tools such as Claude Design, v0, Builder.io, Replit, Lovable, or Base44
  • Familiarity with GitHub and AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor, particularly when collaborating with Engineering or developing functional prototypes
  • Experience using Linear or a similar platform for project and product-development tracking
  • Experience using Mixpanel or a similar product-analytics platform to evaluate user behavior and inform product decisions
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup or similarly dynamic, resource-constrained environment
  • Previous mentorship or player-coach experience
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field

Location Requirement:
  • If you're based in Austin, TX, this is a hybrid role with an expectation of being onsite 2-3 days per week at our office located at: 1717 W 6th St, Suite 310, Austin, TX 78703. #LI-Hybrid
