Job description

About SmartAsset:

SmartAsset is an online destination for consumer-focused financial information, educational content, personalized calculators, and tools. Our mission is to help people make smart financial decisions, reaching an estimated 23 million people each month through our educational content, publishing partners, calculators, and tools.*

To extend that mission, we also operate the SmartAsset Advisor Marketing Platform (AMP), which helps connect consumers with participating fiduciary financial advisors. SmartAsset has been recognized as a 2025 ThinkAdvisor Luminaries winner in the Firm Award – Product or Service Innovation category and was ranked #2574 on the Inc. 5000 list in 2023. SmartAsset has also been featured on Y Combinator's list of Top Companies, a curated compilation rather than a numerical ranking.** In 2021, SmartAsset completed a $110 million Series D funding round that valued the company at over $1 billion.

*Based on average monthly reach data for 2025 across SmartAsset-owned properties and publishing partners.

**Other than application, licensing, or similar administrative fees, SmartAsset did not provide compensation in connection with the referenced awards or recognitions.

About the team:

You'll join the Product team supporting SmartAsset's consumer funnel and web platform — the experiences that reach millions of people researching financial decisions every month. We work in tight, cross-functional pods where designers, PMs, and engineers ship and iterate quickly against real user behavior and live experiment data. It's a place to grow as a designer fast: you'll see your work in front of a large audience, learn directly from experimentation results, and partner with people who care about getting the details right.

About the Job:

Responsibilities:

  • Design clear, usable interfaces for SmartAsset products — from wireframes through high-fidelity mockups — working within our existing design patterns and systems.
  • Produce well-organized design deliverables (wireframes, user flows, mockups, prototypes) that communicate your ideas clearly to PMs and engineers.
  • Collaborate daily with your product pod — product managers, engineers, and marketing partners — to ship cohesive, polished experiences.
  • Apply usability and accessibility best practices to your designs, with guidance from more senior designers.
  • Use analytics and A/B test results to inform and iterate on your work.
  • Contribute to and help maintain our shared design system and component library.
  • Support user research and testing sessions, and apply the findings to your designs.
  • Present your design decisions to your pod and incorporate feedback to keep work aligned with goals and user needs.

Skills/Experience you have:

  • 1–2 years of experience in UX/product design for web and/or mobile applications
  • A portfolio showing clean, usable interface work and clear user flows.
  • Proficiency in Figma.
  • Ability to take design direction and incorporate feedback from PMs, engineers, and senior designers.
  • Solid grasp of core UX and visual design fundamentals (hierarchy, layout, accessibility basics).

Skills/Experience preferred:

  • Exposure to data-informed design or A/B testing.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and how designs are implemented.
  • Experience designing within or contributing to a design system.
  • Interest in or exposure to fintech or other regulated industries.
  • Comfort working in an Agile, fast-paced environment.
  • Degree in Design, HCI, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to communicate via phone calls and/or video conferences (mainly for concierge and sales roles)
Available Benefits and Perks:
  • Fully Remote Work: All roles are fully remote within the contiguous U.S., giving you flexibility to do your best work from where you thrive.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Multiple Medical, Dental, and Vision plan options through trusted national carriers—so you can choose what fits your needs.
  • Life & Disability Protection: Company-paid Life/AD&D coverage, with options to add supplemental life and disability plans for extra peace of mind.
  • Financial Wellness: 401(k) with employer match, pre-tax savings through FSA and HSA options, and equity packages offered for every role.
  • Time Off That Works: Generous vacation, sick, and parental leave policies—because balance matters.
  • Additional Perks: Pet insurance, home office stipend, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
