Job description

Remote Quality Review Medical Assistant - Support Veterans' Disability Claims

Looking for short-term contract work where your medical assistant background actually means something? This 3-month remote role puts your clinical knowledge to use reviewing documentation for Veterans' disability claims - no direct patient care, no nights, no weekends, no holidays.

This is a defined 3-month W2 contract, not a permanent position. It's a great fit if you're between jobs, recently stepped back from clinical work, or already have benefits covered elsewhere.

THE WORK

- Review medical records, lab results, and case files for accuracy and completeness before disability exams

- Catch missing information or inconsistencies in documentation

- Talk and email with Veterans and providers to gather or confirm details (about half your time)

- Use EMR systems and Microsoft Word to complete reviews daily

WHAT YOU BRING

- CMA strongly preferred - or MA/LPN/HIT/EMT training, military Medic/Corpsman background, or completed coursework in Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Human Body Systems, and Common Diseases

- Solid medical terminology knowledge and EMR experience

- Microsoft Office skills and 40+ WPM typing

- U.S. citizenship, and the ability to pass a Public Trust background check (7-10 years) and federal drug screen

- A private, HIPAA-compliant home office with a door

- Hard-wired internet (cable or fiber) - sorry, no Wi-Fi-only, satellite, or hotspot setups like Starlink or T-Mobile Home Internet

- Full availability for 5 days of mandatory training and the complete 13-week contract, no time off

A PLUS IF YOU HAVE

Documentation review or QA experience, behavioral health background, VA or military healthcare experience, home health/hospice work, or prior remote roles.

PAY & SCHEDULE

Pay: $15.00-$18.00/hour - your exact rate depends on the federal wage determination for your county and gets confirmed during screening

Schedule: Mon-Fri, choose 8:00 am-5:00 pm or 10:00 am-7:00 pm CST

Training: 5 days, Mon-Fri, 8:00 am-4:30 pm CST, camera on, no absences

Start date: July 27, 2026 (tentative)

Contract length: 3 months, W2, no benefits, no guaranteed renewal
