Why This Role Matters

As a Lead Transportation Engineer with 4+ years of experience in the transportation market you'll play a key role in supporting the firm and shaping projects that make a difference-from concept through completion. You'll collaborate with talented teammates, contribute your expertise, and help us deliver thoughtful, high-quality solutions for those we serve.

What You'll Do 

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing projects and a passion for business development. This role is crucial for growing our client base in the St. Louis metro and surrounding areas.

• Manage multiple transportation projects within the St. Louis metro and surrounding areas, ensuring timely and successful completion.
• Collaborate with other project managers and business development personnel to enhance our client network.
• Assist with business development initiatives, identifying new opportunities and fostering existing client relationships.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to project teams, ensuring high standards of quality and performance
• Lead design on a variety of transportation and site-related projects, including Roadways and trails, Traffic signals, Utilities and storm sewer design, and Site designs

Requirements

• Seek to be a design leader in collaboration with a design team
• Have Four (4) or more years of civil engineering experience
• Earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related field
• Experienced knowledge of MicroStation or AutoCAD Civil 3D

• Transportation related design
• Proven track record of successful project management.
• Site design and land development
• Municipal design and collaboration with cities or counties
• Interest or experience in 3D visualization 
• Use of specialized software for transportation, traffic, utility, and stormwater management design

This position is primarily performed in an office or hybrid environment and may require travel to project sites, other Shive-Hattery office locations or to meet with clients. A full clean driver's license is required. The role involves sitting, standing, and working at a computer for extended periods. May also require lifting light to medium weight objects of up to 50 lbs., the wearing of PPE and navigating active construction sites.
