Job description

Are you a full-stack engineer who thrives on owning product features from discovery through launch and iteration? Are you eager for an opportunity to shape the use of modern AI-native software? Do you bring strong technical judgment, a hands-on approach, and an ownership mindset across both frontend and backend systems? If so, then we’d like you to join our dedicated team as a Full-Stack Engineer.

About Onsemble:

We’re the digital innovation team inside one of the largest wholesale distributors in the U.S., operating with the autonomy of a startup and the scale, customer base, and durability of a major corporation.

Our platform has strong product-market fit today – we have more demand than we can keep up with. The work you lead will immediately impact small and mid-sized contractors and Profit Centers that rely on us every day.

We’re focused on building AI-enabled workflows across a critical but historically underserved layer of the supply chain: SMB contractors and wholesale distribution for the trades. This is a rare opportunity to shape modern, AI-native software that makes real-world businesses meaningfully more productive, profitable, and future-ready.

About the Role:

The Full-Stack Engineer is responsible for building product across our contractor-facing platform. This role partners closely with Product and Engineering leadership to translate real customer needs into reliable, scalable software — owning features end-to-end across the stack

The Full-Stack Engineer takes a high level of ownership over their responsibilities shipping production code daily, shaping architecture across frontend and backend, and working in an AI-native development model where agentic coding tools are core to how we build.

In this role, you will:

Own Product & Execution

    • Own delivery of product features end-to-end, from discovery through launch and iteration.

    • Partner with Product to scope work and ensure speed, quality, and durability.
    • Ship production software that supports increasing scale, complexity, and customer adoption.

    • Act with urgency, being responsive to important and time-sensitive matters and owning their resolution.

Develop AI-Native Software

    • Actively practice AI-enabled software development in day-to-day work, using tools like Claude Code and similar agentic coding systems to design, build, review, and ship production software.

    • Use AI to increase leverage, velocity, and code quality — while maintaining strong human judgment around architecture, correctness, and long-term maintainability.
    • Ensure AI-enabled features are built responsibly, pragmatically, and in ways that deliver real customer value

Own Your Technical Contributions

    • Contribute to architecture and technical decisions across frontend and backend systems.

    • Maintain a high bar for code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
    • Improve development workflows, tooling, and processes to increase velocity.

    • Identify risks early and surface them through planning and clear communication.
  •  Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as requested.

Our Stack

    • Frontend: React, TanStack Query, Vite, TypeScript

    • Backend: Node.js, Express.js, TypeScript; serverless and API-based services
    • Data: PostgreSQL (via Supabase), Drizzle ORM

    • Infra: Supabase; Heroku; AWS (including Lambda for async and integration workflows)
    • Auth: Clerk

    • AI: Claude-based integrations and internal tooling; GPT-5 for search

About You:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or related work experience.

  • 4 or more years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong background in AI-assisted software development and modern web applications, with deep familiarity in React / Node.js ecosystems

  • Solid understanding of backend APIs, data models, and system integrations

Our ideal candidate will also:

  • Have a strong background and familiarity with AI-assisted software development; modern web applications, with deep familiarity in React / Node.js ecosystems, and Claude Code.

  • Have experience shipping production software used daily by real customers
  • Demonstrate strong technical judgment:

    • Be comfortable making architectural decisions and explaining tradeoffs
    • Possess a practical orientation toward AI: using it to increase leverage and velocity, not novelty

    • Demonstrate strong instincts for correctness, reliability, and long-term maintainability
  • Take ownership of their work:

    • Possess a strong ownership mindset—you take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks
    • Be a clear communicator who proactively aligns with engineers, product, and stakeholders.

    • Be calm, pragmatic, and able to thrive in ambiguous and fast-moving environments
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to convey answers, issues, and status changes in a clear, concise, and effective manner.

  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
