Job Description

This position works under the direct supervision of the director of communications operations to produce print and digital communications materials that support NANA's communications goals. The junior graphic designer develops visual assets for print, web, presentations, social media, and other communications channels while helping maintain NANA's visual identity and digital asset library.

This position can be based in NANA's Corporate Office in Kotzebue, AK or Anchorage, AK.

Responsibilities
  • Creates and produces visual communications materials, including shareholder newsletters, websites, infographics, social media graphics, presentations, flyers, banners, and other print and digital assets.
  • Creates and prepares creative assets, including resizing, formatting, and exporting files for print and digital use.
  • Maintains logo files and supports the appropriate use of NANA brand assets.
  • Assists with print production and coordinates with vendors as needed.
  • Assists with photography coordination, shot lists, and maintenance of photo release files.
  • Creates templates for use by other departments in presentations, reports, posters, and other communications materials.
  • Maintains NANA's digital asset library and ensures assets are organized and tagged for retrieval.
  • Meets project deadlines and maintains version control on design projects.
  • Supports communications projects and campaigns through visual design and production.
  • Applies NANA brand standards and established design guidelines to ensure consistent, culturally appropriate visual communications.
  • Maintains positive relationships and works with a wide variety of individuals to deliver NANA's message while maintaining NANA's image.
  • Follows the Inupiat Ilitqusiat (Inupiat values) in work relationships and work products.
  • Operates in a climate of confidentiality requiring discretion.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must be a NANA shareholder who owns stock in NANA Regional Corporation, Inc.
  • One to three years of graphic design, communications, marketing, agency, or related experience.
  • Associate's degree in design or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Develops and prepares creative assets, including development, resizing and file export.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, preferred
  • Demonstrated design skills through a portfolio of work preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and incorporate feedback effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and offer solutions by developing plans or by implementing and executing solutions.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record to be eligible under NANA's vehicle insurance policy.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

Description of environment: Office building with standard office environment.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

Travel: Up 20% of the time. Employee may travel throughout Alaska and/or to remote locations and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes, and ATVs. Travel to and from the worksite will be provided and arranged by NANA.
