What is a remote telemarketer?

Remote telemarketers are professionals who make sales or marketing calls from a location outside of a traditional office, often working from home. Their main responsibilities include contacting potential customers, promoting products or services, and gathering customer information. They use phones or online communication tools to reach clients, follow scripts or guidelines, and record call details for their employers. Remote telemarketing allows companies to access a broader talent pool and provides workers with flexibility in their work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote telemarketer?

To thrive as a Remote Telemarketer, strong verbal communication, persuasive selling skills, and the ability to handle rejection are essential, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with CRM software, auto-dialers, and call tracking systems is typically required. Outstanding listening abilities, resilience, and self-motivation help professionals excel in building rapport and consistently achieving sales targets from a remote environment. These skills and qualities are crucial for effectively engaging potential customers, meeting quotas, and maintaining productivity without direct in-person supervision.

How do remote telemarketers typically stay motivated and productive while working independently from home?

Remote telemarketers often face the challenge of staying focused and motivated without the structure of an in-office environment. Most successful telemarketers set clear daily goals, follow a consistent routine, and leverage company-provided tools such as CRM software to track their progress. Regular virtual check-ins with supervisors and team members also help maintain accountability and foster a sense of connection. Additionally, taking scheduled breaks and creating a dedicated workspace contribute to sustained productivity throughout the day.

Job description

Location: St. Louis, MO (In-Office / Near Queeny Park in West County)

Job Type: Part-Time (27.5 hours/week)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Compensation: Base Pay/Draw + Lucrative Commission + Performance Incentives

The Opportunity

Are you a high-energy communicator who loves the thrill of closing deals over the phone? Guide Book Publishing, an industry leader in local community advertising since 1991, is hiring an Inside Sales & Advertising Specialist to join our team in St. Louis, MO.

Unlike standard phone sales roles where you call the same worn-out lead sheet forever, our fast-paced model changes prospect lists every 2–3 weeks. You’ll spend your days introducing local businesses to direct-mail advertising opportunities in vibrant micro-communities across 24 states.

What You’ll Do Day-to-Day

  • High-Volume Outreach: Make 50–60+ outbound calls per day to local business owners and decision-makers.
  • AI-Assisted Lead Generation: Utilize quick AI prompts and research tools provided by our team to swiftly build and enrich fresh call lists for new geographic assignments.
  • Close Local Ad Sales: Pitch direct-mail advertising spaces, educate business owners on ROI, and secure ad contracts.
  • In-Office Collaboration: Work directly from our St. Louis office with real-time support from our experienced team.

Who Fits This Role Best?

This role is built for a phone-first communicator—someone who picks up the phone and drives conversations rather than sending an email and waiting around. You’ll thrive here if you are resilient, love building quick rapport, and take pride in hitting daily activity targets.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Set Working Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Designed to accommodate convenient commute times). Will negotiate hours if slight changes are needed for school hours for working parents.
  • Workplace: 100% In-Office at our St. Louis headquarters.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a structure that rewards high activity and performance, supported by top-tier benefits:

Base Pay / Draw & Commission: Guaranteed baseline stability through our Draw program, combined with uncapped commission on cash-in sales.

Performance Bonuses: Additional incentive pay for meeting monthly and assignment sales targets.

This is a new part-time job style. Those in similar roles in this area have made total compensation of weekly Draw + Commission (uncapped) + Incentives; realistic first-year earnings of $28,000 - $34,000 for meeting standard production goals.

Qualifications

Experience: 1+ years of cold calling, telemarketing, inside sales, or high-volume customer outreach preferred (will train the right enthusiastic candidate!).

Tech Comfort: Comfortable using basic AI search prompts (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini) to find business info, along with basic proficiency in Excel, email, and web tools.

Mindset: High energy, persuasive, reliable, and comfortable making 50–60 calls a day.

Requirements: Ability to work on-site at our St. Louis office during scheduled hours.

Set Working Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Designed to accommodate convenient commute times). Will negotiate hours if slight changes are needed for school hours for working parents.
