Remote Teaching Cooking Classes information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Cooking Class Instructor, and why are they important?

To succeed as a Remote Cooking Class Instructor, you need strong culinary skills, teaching experience, and a solid understanding of food safety, often backed by relevant culinary certifications. Familiarity with video conferencing platforms, virtual classroom tools, and high-quality audio/visual equipment is essential for effective online instruction. Exceptional communication, patience, and the ability to engage and motivate remote learners are critical soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure classes are interactive, educational, and accessible, leading to a positive learning experience for students.

What are some common challenges faced when teaching cooking classes remotely and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in remote cooking instruction is ensuring that participants can follow along with demonstrations despite varying kitchen setups and equipment. To address this, instructors often provide detailed ingredient and equipment lists well in advance and offer alternative suggestions for tools or substitutions. Another challenge is maintaining engagement and clear communication, which can be improved by encouraging questions, using multiple camera angles, and checking in with participants throughout the class. Building a supportive online community and being flexible with pacing also help create a positive learning environment.

What are remote teaching cooking classes?

Remote teaching cooking classes are online sessions where instructors guide participants in preparing recipes and learning culinary techniques from the comfort of their own kitchens. These classes typically use video conferencing platforms to offer live, interactive instruction, allowing students to ask questions and receive real-time feedback. This format makes cooking education accessible to a wider audience and allows for flexible scheduling. Participants often receive ingredient lists and preparation instructions before the class begins.

We are changing children's lives. We work with the most struggling readers, including children with word reading difficulties or other characteristics of dyslexia. Come join our team!
We are hiring certified teachers to teach virtual small-group intervention sessions. Teachers receive training on effective, proven intervention programs, are compensated for training and prep time, and join a community of serious educators, researchers, and advocates committed to changing outcomes for historically underserved children.
This role is a flexible part-time W2 position. Expected hours: 5-12 per week.
The Role
We are hiring teachers to teach virtual small-group sessions mostly during school hours, with some after school classes as well. You will teach groups of 3-4 students, using effective programs specially adapted for virtual instruction.
You will develop caring relationships with the children you teach, helping them grow and succeed as readers. You will provide weekly updates to school and home stakeholders, building a community of care around each child.
You will be part of a community of like-minded teachers who care deeply about every child's success.
Schedule
We are currently hiring for the following teaching schedules:
2026-2027 School Year: Classes beginning as early as September and as late as November. Classes are 30-60 minutes per day, Monday through Friday, mostly during the school day, with SOME after-school availability in the Pacific time zone.
Commitments
Participation in multiple days of program training. You are paid for this time.
During the school year, between 1 and 4 hours of teaching per day, 3 to 5 days per week, over the course of the school year.
    Fingerprinting and background check.
Weekly completion of instructional tracking reports and student updates.
    Participation in regular staff meetings.
Training and professional development
Before teaching, you will receive training in the program you are assigned to teach. You may receive training on multiple programs.
Before teaching you will also receive training in areas such as models of development, dyslexia, child & adolescent reading development, etc.
During the course of instruction, you will have the opportunity to participate in a mix of mentor observations, peer observations, office hours, and student case management discussions.
You will also have the chance to engage with leading academics in the fields of dyslexia and reading intervention.
Purpose and diversity
We believe every child deserves a reading future. We strive to support students who are underserved by current systems and models of intervention.
We are building a team that reflects the full diversity of our student population and of our country. If you are committed to helping children who struggle with reading, please join us!
Compensation
We pay $35/hour for time teaching.
