Remote Tandem Developer information

What is a remote tandem developer?

Remote Tandem Developers are software professionals who work together in pairs or small teams from different locations to collaboratively design, develop, and maintain software applications. This approach, often called 'tandem programming' or 'pair programming,' enables developers to share knowledge, review each other's code in real-time, and solve problems more efficiently. Working remotely allows for flexibility and access to a wider talent pool, while still fostering collaboration through communication tools and version control platforms. Remote Tandem Developers are valued for their ability to produce high-quality code and adapt quickly to project needs.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote tandem developer?

To thrive as a Remote Tandem Developer, you need strong programming skills in relevant languages, collaborative development experience, and a solid understanding of software engineering principles. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, remote collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Zoom), and agile project management platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and the ability to work effectively both independently and synchronously with a partner are standout soft skills. These capabilities are crucial for delivering high-quality code, maintaining productivity, and ensuring seamless teamwork in a remote paired programming environment.

How do remote tandem developers effectively collaborate with team members across different time zones?

Remote Tandem Developers often work closely with partners or small teams, and effective collaboration across time zones requires strong communication and planning skills. They typically use project management tools, shared code repositories, and regular video meetings to stay aligned and track progress. Clear documentation and asynchronous communication are essential to ensure that everyone remains informed and productive, even when working hours don’t overlap. Being proactive about updates and transparent about blockers helps maintain momentum and build trust among distributed teams.

Job description

Director of Growth Product & Monetization
Department: Growth
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Remote USA - In Tandem
Compensation: $160,000 - $180,000 / year
Description
At In Tandem, we build technology that helps families manage everyday routines and navigate life's biggest transitions. Through our four brands-OurFamilyWizard, Cozi, FamilyWall, and Custody Navigator-we help families stay organized, communicate well, and foster healthy childhoods.
We believe technology should strengthen relationships and make daily coordination less complicated. Everything we create is designed to lighten the mental load, reduce conflict, and support families through big and small moments.
If you want your work to make a real difference in the daily lives of parents and kids, In Tandem is the place where your impact will truly matter.
OurFamilyWizard serves hundreds of thousands of families navigating separation, divorce, and shared custody - and the way families find us is unlike most consumer products. Some arrive on their own. Others come through a trusted attorney, therapist, or mediator. Some are directed here by a court. Each path carries different intent, trust, and urgency, and turning that distinctive multi-channel model into lasting customer value is the core of this opportunity.
As Director of Growth Product & Monetization, you'll own OurFamilyWizard's growth strategy end-to-end - reporting to the Chief Product Officer and working in close partnership with Marketing on acquisition, lifecycle, and brand. Success means moving the metrics that matter - conversion rate, renewal, ARPU, and revenue - and what makes those outcomes genuinely exciting is how directly they map to mission: more families converting means more families getting the support they need. And with success here, there's real opportunity to shape growth and monetization across the broader In Tandem portfolio.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role with real organizational reach. You'll align Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Data around shared priorities and stay close enough to the work to turn strategy into experiments and results. You'll use AI as a real execution lever, moving faster on research, modeling, and experimentation than a traditional growth function could.
What you will accomplish:
  • Growth Strategy & Execution: Set OurFamilyWizard's conversion and monetization priorities and drive execution across direct-to-consumer, professionally referred, and court-directed journeys-recognizing that each audience enters with different intent and needs.
  • Growth Operating System: Establish shared metrics, a high-velocity experiment portfolio, and a regular growth review that helps teams learn quickly, make tradeoffs, and act on results.
  • Product & Marketing Alignment: Connect acquisition strategy and CAC with activation, conversion, engagement, and retention so OurFamilyWizard invests in customers it can serve well over time.
  • Pricing & Monetization: Lead pricing, packaging, and new-product monetization across app stores and web. Evaluate tier value, upgrade paths, and price changes using customer insight, unit economics, and OurFamilyWizard's responsibility to families.
  • Professional Referral Growth: Deepen engagement and referrals across attorneys, mediators, therapists, custody evaluators, and courts. Improve the path from recommendation or mandate to sustained customer value, and partner on pro product strategy to advise on price/value and monetization of new products.
  • Scalable Growth Foundations: Partner with Data, AI, Marketing, and Engineering to strengthen experimentation, instrumentation, segmentation, and lifecycle capabilities. Build a repeatable approach to international expansion and an agile conversion funnel tech stack-with foundations designed to scale across brands.

Who you are:
  • A mission-connected operator who connects growth to real-world impact and cares about what happens to the families using OurFamilyWizard.
  • A hands-on strategist who loves being close to the work-establishing playbooks, building learning foundations, and turning strategy into experiments and results.
  • Skilled at reading consumer psychology and translating context-specific conditions into strong hypotheses that reduce friction and move parents to the right next action.
  • A collaborative leader who aligns cross-functional teams around shared priorities without relying on formal authority-and communicates up with the clarity to drive executive alignment.
  • High-velocity in experimentation: you form hypotheses, set priorities, understand statistical tradeoffs, and know when evidence is sufficient to act.
  • AI-native: you use current tools to improve the speed and quality of research, modeling, prototyping, and experimentation-while remaining accountable for the output.

What you bring:
  • 7-10+ years building and leading consumer growth or monetization strategies with accountability for measurable outcomes across the full funnel.
  • Hands-on ownership of subscription pricing or packaging-including a price change, repackaging, or new-product monetization decision-and clear lessons from what didn't go as planned.
  • Strong business judgment with fluency in CAC, LTV, retention, payback, ARPU, and cohort performance; excellent data fluency and statistical analysis.
  • Excellent communication and influence skills that help you drive various perspectives and opinions towards a concrete and visionary strategy while keeping teams aligned around you to maximize impact and outcomes.
  • Hands-on PM experience and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering from managers to ICs; technical fluency that enables seamless engineering partnership.
  • Fluency in App Store, Google Play, and web subscription mechanics.
  • Experience with B2B2C growth, professional referral networks, international expansion, or high-trust products is a strong plus.
  • Understanding of the current limits and near-term potential of AI optimization and personalization.
