Their responsibilities include configuring storage systems, troubleshooting storage-related issues, ensuring data security, and optimizing storage performance. They often work with technologies such as cloud storage, SAN (Storage Area Network), and NAS (Network Attached Storage). Remote Storage Engineers play a crucial role in maintaining data integrity and accessibility, especially for businesses with distributed or cloud-based infrastructure.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Storage Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Storage Engineer, you need strong expertise in storage technologies, data management, and backup solutions, typically backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with systems like SAN/NAS, cloud storage platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), and certifications such as CompTIA Storage+ or vendor-specific credentials are highly valued. Job description

Grow Your Career in a Fast-Paced Managed Services Environment

Do you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, working with a variety of technologies and supporting multiple client environments? Are you looking for an opportunity where every day brings something new while allowing you to expand your infrastructure, cloud and networking expertise?

We're partnering with a rapidly growing technology consulting organization that is investing heavily in its managed services practice. As the business continues to expand through strategic growth and acquisitions, they're seeking a Systems Engineer to join a collaborative team that supports a diverse client base while contributing to infrastructure projects and technical initiatives.

If you're looking for an environment where you'll continuously learn, work with modern technologies and accelerate your career, we'd love to talk with you.

What You'll Do

  • Provide Level 2 technical support for a wide variety of client environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex server, workstation, network and cloud issues.
  • Participate in infrastructure implementations, migrations and technical projects.
  • Configure, deploy and maintain Microsoft-based infrastructure and cloud solutions.
  • Support Microsoft 365 environments, Windows Server, Active Directory and endpoint management technologies.
  • Assist with networking technologies, security solutions, backup systems and cloud connectivity.
  • Perform remote troubleshooting while occasionally providing onsite client support when needed.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and client environments.
  • Collaborate with project managers, service coordinators and fellow engineers to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Continue developing technical expertise across emerging technologies while earning and maintaining industry certifications.

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

  • Experience working within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting multiple client environments simultaneously.
  • Hands-on experience providing Level 2 technical support.
  • Experience participating in infrastructure implementation and migration projects.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Microsoft technologies, networking and cloud environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift throughout the day.

Technical Experience

Experience with many of the following technologies is highly desirable:

  • Windows Server
  • Microsoft 365
  • Microsoft Intune
  • Active Directory & Group Policy
  • Microsoft Outlook & Microsoft 365 Administration
  • Azure
  • Networking technologies
  • Cloud storage and remote connectivity solutions
  • Backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Endpoint security / EDR solutions
  • ConnectWise Automate or similar RMM platforms
  • Apple hardware and macOS
  • Google Workspace

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting small to mid-sized business environments.
  • Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE or equivalent)
  • Cisco certifications (CCNA or equivalent)
  • VMware experience
  • Fortinet, SonicWall, JAMF or CompTIA certifications
  • College degree or equivalent technical experience

Who You Are

You're someone who genuinely enjoys troubleshooting and solving technical problems. You thrive in environments where no two days look alike and enjoy supporting a variety of clients, industries and technologies. You're collaborative, customer-focused and eager to continue expanding your technical skill set while working alongside experienced engineers.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This organization is experiencing significant growth and continues to invest heavily in its managed services practice, including expanding its leadership team to better support engineers and create opportunities for advancement. Rather than supporting a single corporate environment, you'll gain exposure to a wide variety of infrastructures, technologies and business challenges, making this an outstanding opportunity for someone looking to accelerate their technical career. The role combines Level 2 support with project-based implementation work, providing an excellent balance of troubleshooting and hands-on engineering. Engineers participate in an on-call rotation that is currently approximately one week out of every ten weeks, helping maintain a healthy work-life balance while supporting clients.
