Position Overview

The UAM Data Operations Team requires a highly skilled and experienced Senior SQL Programmer with at least 8 years of professional development experience with application databases, and data lake/data mart datasets. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities, advanced technical expertise, and the ability to translate complex business workflows into functional SQL code for application and reporting needs.  This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, IT teams, and leadership to support strategic initiatives and operational excellence.  The position reports to the Senior Data Scientist, under the direction of the Data Operations Team Leader.

*Please note that this is a multi-step interview process that will require the successful completion of a SQL Skills Assessment Test. 

Job Duties
  • Design, develop, and maintain data tier codebase using Transact-SQL, Google SQL, and modern programming and scripting languages.
  • Perform data validation, cleansing, and quality assurance to ensure data integrity and consistency.
  • Translate business requirements into SQL code for application development, including schema architecture, table construction, view definitions, stored procedures, trigger actions, and scheduled queries.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data extraction processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Operations, Sales, and IT.
  • Support enterprise data governance, compliance, and reporting initiatives.
  • Mentor junior staff members and contribute to best practices and standards.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in ANSI SQL/Transact SQL programming for application development support.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • SQL programming and relational databases
    • Advanced data manipulation techniques
    • Data visualization and reporting tools
  • Hands-on experience with one or more RDBMS platforms such as:
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • PostGres SQL
    • MySQL
  • Extensive experience with programming/scripting languages such as:
    • Transact SQL (T-SQL)
    • Google SQL
    • Python
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data lake and warehousing concepts
    • Data governance and quality frameworks
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as:
    • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
    • Microsoft Azure
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in: Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Engineering, or other related computational fields
