Both roles require analytical skills and industry knowledge but differ in their primary objectives and work environments.

What is Remote Statistical Process Control?

Remote Statistical Process Control (SPC) refers to the use of statistical methods and software to monitor, control, and improve manufacturing or business processes from a remote location. By collecting and analyzing data in real time, SPC professionals can detect variations, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions without being physically present at the production site. This approach helps organizations maintain product quality, reduce defects, and improve efficiency, especially in environments where on-site monitoring is not feasible. Remote SPC often involves the use of cloud-based tools and secure data transmission to ensure effective oversight.

How does a Remote Statistical Process Control specialist typically collaborate with on-site teams to ensure process quality?

Remote Statistical Process Control (SPC) specialists frequently work with on-site production and quality teams through virtual meetings, shared dashboards, and collaborative data analysis tools. They provide actionable insights by monitoring real-time process data, identifying trends or anomalies, and recommending corrective actions. Effective communication is crucial, as remote SPC specialists must clearly convey findings and support implementation of process improvements. Regular coordination ensures that remote oversight aligns with on-site operational goals and compliance requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Statistical Process Control Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Statistical Process Control Specialist, you need strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of statistics, and experience in quality assurance, often supported by a degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related field. Proficiency with statistical software tools like Minitab, JMP, or SPC modules within ERP systems, as well as familiarity with Six Sigma or similar certifications, is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective remote communication are essential soft skills for interpreting data trends and collaborating with distributed teams. These skills ensure accurate process monitoring, timely quality improvements, and efficient coordination, which are critical for maintaining manufacturing standards remotely.

Job description

Introduction:
Join our dedicated team as a Principal Control Systems Engineer, where you will lead complex engineering initiatives that power communities and industries. ENTRUST Solutions Group is an industry leader in engineering, consulting, and automation services, known for delivering innovative and reliable solutions across the electric power generation sector. In this role, you will be at the forefront of turbine control systems engineering, guiding high-impact projects and supporting broader power generation efforts to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operation.
Responsibilities:
In this senior-level role, you will plan, schedule, and coordinate the technical execution of complex power generation projects, with a primary focus on power plant control systems. You will design and program both hardware and software solutions for power plants, concentrating on instrumentation, control, and electrical systems to deliver high-performance, reliable outcomes. You will also contribute to engineering proposals by defining technical scopes, estimating schedules, and planning resources. Collaboration is central to this role-you will work closely with internal teams, clients, and contractors through structured processes such as Design Reviews, Program Reviews, and Project Closeout Meetings. This position offers flexible work options-including remote, hybrid, or in-office arrangements depending on location-and requires travel of approximately 15-30% to support project needs and client engagement.
What We Offer:
  • A supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and encourages innovation.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and career development.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, and flexible work schedules.
  • This position pays $120,000-$145,000 annually and is an exempt position. Benefits offered include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plan with company match. Also offered are tuition reimbursement, voluntary life, disability, critical illness, accident, and hospitalization plans. HSA or FSA medical accounts and FSA dependent care and transportation/parking accounts are also available. These benefits are subject to employee contribution amounts generally set annually. Full-time employees are eligible to earn PTO hours. May be eligible for discretionary bonus as determined by the company.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 10-20+ years of experience in controls, electrical, and instrumentation.
  • Subject-matter expertise in one or more of the following areas: steam turbine controls, gas turbine controls, and/or balance-of-plant systems.
  • Strong knowledge of DCS and/or PLC systems, including programming and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork through effective communication and collaboration with peers, management, and clients.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 15-30% locally and domestically.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Turbine Control System experience (process knowledge, DCS/PLC integration)
  • Engineering degree or related technical field.
