Job Title

AI Accelerated Senior Java Engineer

About your role:

Join a delivery team building the CommerceHub platform, where you will design and deliver payment software while helping engineering teams apply artificial intelligence (AI) tools consistently, responsibly, and measurably. You will work across engineers, technical leads, and delivery teams to improve engineering quality, delivery speed, and predictability through scalable payment services, specification-driven development, and disciplined AI-assisted workflows.

What you'll do:

  • Design and deliver software solutions for real-time payments, payment application programming interfaces (APIs), and high-volume omnichannel commerce processing.
  • Analyze business processes and heterogeneous technology environments to define scalable, secure, and maintainable payment solutions.
  • Develop microservices using reactive design patterns for protocol translation, enrichment, orchestration, and high-throughput transaction processing.
  • Apply and reinforce consistent use of AI prompts, GitHub Copilot instructions, Codex instructions, SpecKit artifacts, and engineering guidance across delivery work.
  • Improve engineering practices by sharing reusable prompts, workflows, coding patterns, testing approaches, and lessons learned for AI-assisted development.
  • Lead use of specification-driven engineering practices, including SpecKit or similar frameworks, to improve clarity, traceability, implementation quality, and delivery predictability.
  • Validate product changes through unit, component, integration, performance, and API testing, including Postman-based API validation where applicable.
  • Conduct code reviews that evaluate AI-assisted suggestions for security, quality, maintainability, performance, and appropriate implementation.
  • Guide teams on selecting AI tools and agents for design, coding, testing, documentation, debugging, and refactoring outcomes.
  • Enhance API solutions to deliver secure, simple, and easy-to-consume interfaces for payment customers across enterprise environments.
  • Contribute to API roadmap execution, software development kit (SDK) support, client libraries, DevOps, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), and continuous delivery strategies.
  • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Maven, Git, JIRA, Confluence, and enterprise software development life cycle practices.
  • 8+ years of experience designing and delivering microservices, real-time APIs, high-volume transaction processing applications, and payment platform capabilities in enterprise environments.
  • 8+ years of experience developing secure APIs and distributed services with protocol translation, orchestration, enrichment, and omnichannel consumption patterns.
  • 6+ years of experience creating automated tests using JUnit, Mockito, Postman, JMeter, integration testing, component testing, mock frameworks, virtual services, and performance testing practices.
  • 4+ years of experience using SpecKit or similar specification-driven engineering practices to define requirements, acceptance criteria, implementation plans, and validation expectations.
  • 2+ years of experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Copilot Chat, Codex, AI coding agents, or similar platforms to improve code development, testing, documentation, and delivery quality.
  • 2+ years of experience creating or refining AI prompts, instruction sets, engineering playbooks, and reusable guidance for consistent AI-assisted development.
  • Experience using quality and security scanning tools such as Sonar, Fortify, WebInspect, or similar tools to identify findings and improve code quality and risk posture.
  • Experience working with Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or similar relational databases and enterprise data access patterns.
  • Experience applying object-oriented design patterns, domain-driven design principles, test-driven development, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Experience working with cloud and platform technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent technologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineers, technical leads, delivery teams, and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise payments, commerce platforms, cloud-native engineering, or large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience coaching engineers on prompt quality, AI-assisted coding workflows, agent selection, code review practices, test generation, debugging, refactoring, and documentation standards.
  • Experience defining AI usage standards, measuring adoption quality, tracking delivery outcomes, and improving engineering practices based on delivery metrics and defect trends.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud, security, architecture, agile delivery, payments, or AI-assisted software engineering, or equivalent validated experience.

Important info about this role:

  • You must currently possess valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization to be considered for this role.
