Your team's dynamic:

As Field Engineer, you will provide on-site and off-site professional services to Genetec customers and Partners, including proof-of-concept, staging, system deployment and commissioning, audits, system assessments and will act as a general liaison between Genetec and its customers, reporting directly to the Design & Deployment Services Manager, North America. The mission of the Professional Services team is to help customers achieve success and maximize value in their investment while mitigating risks, by supporting the design, deployment, maintenance, and utilization of Genetec's solution portfolio.  

You will be responsible for advising, installing, maintaining, and supporting the various Genetec solutions remotely and on-site for Genetec clients located in North America, as well as managing some of the projects where you are involved. 

Your day at a glance:

  • Perform installation, audit, assessment, maintenance, and support of Genetec systems at client sites 
  • Act as a primary on-site and remote technical point of contact for key projects to Genetec's partners 
  • Develop and maintain a strong relationship with new and existing customers 
  • Develop and maintain an extensive working knowledge of Genetec's solutions 
  • Properly document all activities and anomalies encountered in the Genetec Systems 
  • Ensure timely escalation of critical customer related issues through proper channels 
  • Provided functional requirements based on customer feedback to facilitate product Improvement 
  • Provide an open forum for questions regarding strategic plans, best practices, and advice on upgrades, special concerns, and ad hoc consulting for software implementation, integration, training, and change requests 
  • Document on-site or remote service interventions

  • Deployment and troubleshooting of security systems such as: Video Surveillance Systems (VMS, IP cameras and encoders, analytics, etc.) and Access Control Systems (Software configuration, readers, controllers, wiring, etc.) 
  • Excellent administration and troubleshooting knowledge of the various Windows operating systems (Active Directory, SQL, file sharing, IIS, clustering, GPO, performance monitoring, etc.) 
  • Excellent knowledge of networking principles and IP protocols. 
  • Experience with networking equipment configuration and troubleshooting (switches, routers, etc.). 
  • Understanding of network storage (SAN, NAS, iSCSI) principles and best practices 
  • Database query and management skills  
  • Understanding of server virtualization concepts 
  • Experience with encryption and certificates 
  • Experience with PowerShell is an asset
