Job Summary

The Legal, Safety & Compliance Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, integrating, and continuously improving the technology ecosystem that supports Compass Group USA's Legal, Safety & Compliance organization. This role partners closely with business leaders to evaluate operational processes, implement scalable technology solutions, integrate enterprise platforms, and improve the quality, accessibility, and governance of compliance and risk information.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical aptitude with business process knowledge and enjoys translating operational challenges into technology-enabled solutions. This individual will serve as the primary technology partner for the Legal, Safety & Compliance team, ensuring systems effectively support incident management, claims, investigations, physical security, threat management, compliance, and operational reporting.
Experience with Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS), Threat Management, Physical Security, Access Control, or Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) platforms is highly desirable.

Core Responsibilities

Systems Strategy & Administration

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for Legal, Safety & Compliance technology platforms.
  • Configure, administer, maintain, and optimize systems supporting incident management, claims, investigations, compliance, inspections, threat management, access management, and related business functions.
  • Evaluate existing business processes and identify opportunities for automation, simplification, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Legal, Safety & Compliance leadership to define system requirements, prioritize enhancements, and develop technology roadmaps.

Solution Design & Implementation

  • Lead implementation of new technology solutions supporting Legal, Safety & Compliance initiatives.
  • Configure workflows, forms, notifications, dashboards, business rules, and integrations that improve operational efficiency and user experience.
  • Collaborate with IT, vendors, and business stakeholders during system implementations, upgrades, testing, and deployments.
  • Document functional requirements, technical specifications, system configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Systems Integration & Data Management

  • Coordinate integrations between Legal, Safety & Compliance platforms and enterprise systems including ServiceNow, HRIS, Identity & Access Management (IAM), ERP, Power BI, Microsoft 365, and other operational applications.
  • Support data migration, validation, cleansing, and governance initiatives.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, role-based access, and system reliability across supported platforms.
  • Partner with enterprise data and technology teams to improve reporting, interoperability, and automation.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and KPIs that support operational decision-making, regulatory compliance, and executive reporting.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define meaningful metrics and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, consistent, and aligned with enterprise data standards.

Governance & Compliance

  • Maintain system documentation, security models, audit trails, and change management processes.
  • Ensure supported platforms comply with organizational security standards, data governance policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in system testing, release management, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

Collaboration & Support

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Legal, Safety & Compliance leadership on technology capabilities and industry best practices.
  • Provide application support, troubleshooting, and end-user training.
  • Build strong relationships with IT, Operations, HR, Security, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Drive adoption of new technologies through effective communication and change management.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current on emerging technologies supporting Legal, Safety, Risk, Compliance, and Physical Security.
  • Recommend innovative solutions that improve efficiency, user experience, reporting, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives through workflow automation, system optimization, and technology modernization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise business applications, systems administration, business systems analysis, or technology implementation.
  • Experience implementing, configuring, or administering enterprise software platforms.
  • Strong understanding of system integrations, APIs, data management, workflow automation, and business process optimization.
  • Experience configuring workflows, permissions, security models, and user administration.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) such as Origami Risk, Riskonnect, Ventiv, SafetyCulture or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Threat Management, Physical Security, Visitor Management, Video Management Systems (VMS), or Access Control platforms.
    Experience with Genetec Security Center, including Security Desk, AutoVu, Synergis (Access Control), Omnicast (Video Management), or related Genetec solutions.
  • Experience supporting GRC (Governance Risk & Controls) Compliance Management systems such as Audit Board, Archer, OnSpring, etc.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or other enterprise workflow platforms.
  • Experience building reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, APIs, REST integrations, or low-code automation platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), or Identity & Access Management (IAM) concepts.
  • Project management, business analysis, or technology implementation experience.
  • Experience working in highly regulated, risk-focused, or compliance-driven environments.
