The division designs and delivers cloud-native geospatial platforms that integrate advanced AI and machine learning capabilities into spatial data workflows — powering applications that sit inside live public safety call flows and enterprise operating environments where accuracy and uptime directly impact outcomes.

DATAMARK Technologies serves public safety agencies and enterprise clients across the United States, providing intelligent geospatial solutions built on modern, autonomous, and scalable architectures. The team combines deep domain expertise in spatial data engineering with a forward-leaning approach to AI-driven automation, enabling clients to move faster, operate smarter, and make better decisions from their geospatial data. DATAMARK Technologies represents Michael Baker International's commitment to technology innovation at the intersection of geography, intelligence, and public safety.

What We're Looking For

Michael Baker International is seeking a Senior Software Engineer Geospatial & AI to join the DATAMARK Technologies team in a fully remote capacity, supporting clients and operations across the United States. In this senior individual contributor role, you will lead the design and development of cloud-native geospatial applications with deeply integrated AI capabilities, drive autonomous workflow engineering, and shape the AI-assisted development practices that define how the team builds and ships software. You will bring technical depth across full-stack development, geospatial platforms, and enterprise AI tooling — and you will apply that expertise to build systems that perform inside mission-critical public safety and enterprise environments.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop cloud-native, AI-integrated microservices and full-stack applications
  • Integrate AI/ML capabilities into geospatial applications using enterprise AI platforms and LLM APIs
  • Contribute to autonomous features for data quality validation, spatial analysis, and workflow automation
  • Build serverless services and RESTful APIs for geospatial data
  • Apply security guardrails, multi-tenant isolation, and compliance measures to AI-powered features
  • Adopt AI-assisted software development practices, including AI-augmented code review and intelligent DevOps
  • Integrate enterprise GIS platforms and spatial data processing capabilities
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using infrastructure-as-code principles
  • Participate in code reviews and help establish engineering best practices

  • Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Working knowledge of microservices and serverless concepts
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL
  • Comfort with version control, collaborative development, and agile methodologies

Preferred

  • Exposure to enterprise GIS technologies (Esri ArcGIS, MapLibre, Mapbox, PostGIS) or other spatial data
  • Experience building AI-powered features, agentic workflows, or LLM integrations
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering and AI development frameworks
  • Cloud certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer, or DevOps)
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration
  • Understanding of indoor mapping standards or public safety GIS workflows
  • Awareness of SOC 2 and/or FedRAMP compliance requirements
  • Experience with test automation and test-driven development
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar)
