What is a remote Solidity developer?

A Remote Solidity Developer is a blockchain developer who specializes in writing smart contracts using Solidity, the programming language for Ethereum and other blockchain platforms. This role involves designing, testing, and deploying decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts while ensuring security and efficiency. Since the job is remote, developers collaborate with teams across different time zones using online tools. Strong knowledge of blockchain protocols, security best practices, and gas optimization is essential.

What does a remote Solidity developer do?

A typical workday for a Remote Solidity Developer involves designing, coding, and testing smart contracts, conducting code reviews, and monitoring new blockchain security vulnerabilities. Developers often participate in daily stand-up meetings, coordinate tasks via project management tools, and collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and QA teams using online communication platforms such as Slack or Zoom. Team interactions are predominantly virtual, requiring proactive communication and documentation to ensure everyone is aligned. You'll also spend time researching new technologies or auditing code, which supports both personal growth and project improvement.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote Solidity developer?

To thrive as a Remote Solidity Developer, you need strong proficiency in Solidity, Ethereum smart contract development, blockchain fundamentals, and experience with decentralized application (dApp) architecture, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Truffle, Hardhat, Remix, and version control systems like Git, as well as knowledge of security best practices and relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Blockchain Developer), is important. Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to work independently within virtual teams are valuable soft skills. These abilities ensure secure, reliable smart contract development, effective collaboration, and the successful delivery of blockchain projects in remote work settings.

Job description

About us
DEX Labs is a tech start-up building cutting-edge, decentralized exchange infrastructure for the cryptocurrency markets. Our goal is to develop creative solutions for the problems decentralized exchanges are facing today and ultimately combine the upsides of centralized finance with those of decentralized finance - a self-governed, decentralized finance platform without compromising on performance or user experience.
We value diversity and inclusion and we are committed to hiring and supporting individuals regardless of identity or background. We're passionate about providing usable and accessible solutions, and your unique perspective and experience will inform improvements and features that make decentralized exchange usable to a wider audience.
Responsibilities
  • Write (low level) Rust code, that's sophisticated, fast, and readable for complex, concurrent decentralized exchange infrastructure
  • Test and measure your (and our) code with unit tests, integration tests, benchmarking, etc.
  • Proactively improve our Rust, TypeScript, Python, or Solidity codebase
  • Write the kind of documentation that you would want to use
Requirements
  • Write great code that is robust and well-tested
  • Know your way around Docker, Postgres, and other infrastructure-related technologies
  • Work across different areas like DevOps, the core product's Rust, TypeScript or Python codebase, and our Solidity smart contracts
  • Be enthusiastic about building great software that serves a purpose
Ideal
  • You know your Rust well
  • Your TypeScript is on point
  • You are active in the crypto ecosystem or interested in joining
  • You have worked with or are interested in Intel SGX / Trusted Execution Environments
Benefits
  • We pay a competitive salary with equity compensation
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance in the US
  • Work from anywhere - including a stipend for your remote / WFH set-up
  • Unlimited time off
